And now...the rest of the story

After John and Maco got back from their fishing trip, they were both beat. John caught about a dozen fish, and Maco and his friend caught some. The two fishermen were unimpressed with their catch, which amounted to about 50 lbs of fish. John's description of the fishing trip is on Syncboard.

We spent the night at Joe's, then headed to Taunton to visit John's mother and brother. Richard was very talkative on this visit, as if hanging out with the old lady has made him long for sane company. We met up with Karen, who is now living in Pawtucket, RI. We spent the night at John's mom's house, then got up and piddled around until it was time for us to drive back to Carlisle. We arrived at my brother's house around 3:40 AM on Friday, after having to stop to put air in the rental car's tires and changing a blown brake light.

Day One of the 2009 All Chrysler Nationals was an eye-opener for me. I have never seen so many cars in a car show, and in this case, all of them are Chrysler models! The ones we looked at most were the antiques. Hell, we were even driving a Chrysler - the rental was a 2009 Dodge Charger. We were almost allowed to drive in through the gates onto the fairgrounds until somebody thought to ask us if we were registered! Instead, we told them we were looking for parking. They directed us to a $5 lot, versus the $10 lots we saw as we got closer and closer to the fairgrounds.

We started wandering up and down the rows and rows of antique Chrysler products, many of which were proud trailer queens that only come out for shows. To give you a mere glimpse of the magnitude of this show, here some views from the grandstand:

All 288 photos from two days are posted on Syncboard. John's description of this part of the vacation is posted on Syncboard, too.

After we were worn out by looking at all those wonderful cars, we spent Saturday evening with my brother and his family. On Sunday, my parents drove down from Endicott for lunch, and my uncle Dave and his wife came from Maryland, too. Photos have been posted in the Syncboard Gallery. Jake and Lucy are as cute as ever, and everybody loved interacting with them.

'Til next time...
