Halfway between Timaru and Ashburton is Timburton.. lol, I'm funny.

Okay, so this is old but I wrote it and didn't get around to posting it because I was slackcore and didn't have an internet connection for a couple of weeks, so for historys sake, I present my delayed post:

There was secret plans that Today We Dance were touring with the Bleeders and somehow I convinced them it'd be a good idea to bring me along for the ride because I'm quite awesome. Really, they were only planning on doing Christchurch and Timaru, which was all good and we were all rather excited. It's kind of funny that their first gig ever was opening for the bouncing souls and their 2nd was opening for the Bleeders, good company to keep. Anyway, closer to the time, TWD found out that Murray wasn't going to be able to do the dates, since he's busy and has other band commitments anyway, so they had no bassist.. until somehow the Bleeders bassist was going to be filling in. In reality this wasn't such a good prospect, I don't think he was really willing to bust his ass and play twice or something *shrug*, but the day of the Christchruch gig they got one of the Ill Recieved guys to play bass and taught him the songs in a couple of hours of cramming. This would probably have been only their 2nd or 3rd ever practice together anyway, which is quite scary as to how tight they seem on stage to me. It was an all-ages gig, I went with my sister and my friend Amy met me there after a while. Leon from work was there, he's like 17 or something and likes good punk. Him and Amy don't exactly get along, but meh, I like them both. Anyway, it was real awesome. I remember hanging around afterwards and the girl who wants to beat up Brad Mitchell (Sniffy the ginger) asked me if I want to go back to her place for drinks with her friends, but I declined of course.. Honestly, I'm sure shes not really a psycho, but what if its all a trap to lure me there and lock me up and bribe Brad into dying his hair or I won't get released or something. So like then I went home.

At home, I get a call from Jono telling me that they've been shafted and won't be playing in Timaru, since the people who run Bar Excell there have bought the show from the promoters and have changed the bill and for some strange reason booked Not With You! in their slot, but they could still open for not with you, but they'd not get paid, no accomodation and have to play first up. You know, how far do you bend over and take it. It just wasn't financially viable anymore, they were originally guaranteed money for playing and stuff, which went to Not With You! (who really aren't great, I do like their pisstake cover of Total Eclipse of the Heart.. but yeah)

Jono felt pretty bad, especially for me, since I'd taken a day or two off from work to go to Timaru and help them out and have some fun. So we figured, we'd still go, but them not play, and got a bunch of people to travel with us in the now minus equipment meaning more spacious van. In the meantime, somehow the guitarist from Gyroscope had broken his finger and they weren't going to play in Timaru, so it was just Bleeders and Not With You!, but Gyroscope are amazing and so I didn't really care about being sober enough for the concert so on the drive up I drunk a bottle of wine, when we got there I drunk another, by the time we went to the Bleeders, I don't really remember getting there, so I must've been pretty drunk. I remember them starting and after a few songs I got thrown out for probably not being able to hold myself up. After a bit, Shoki was thrown out too. It was all rather funny really. I know I drunkenly talked to one of the Bleeders about them not playing Bleeding Heart in chch, but he mocked me by saying that they did and I must've been drunk and missed it.. at an AA gig? Lies, but who cares, its quite funny. I'm sure I must've said some real dumb things to him. We ended up going to a bunch of different bars and stuff, I broke the glass in some Vodafone sign, somehow survived and got back to our backpackers. When the lights went out, people started throwing shoes around the room, but I couldn't find any, so I threw a bottle of wine at Jono or something. The next day I was pretty written off, but it was pretty cool fun all around.
