Yeah you must be right about the TARDIS. I thought Neil himself said that the episode featured the return of a classic character in a new body. Which I thought ruled out a character that even seen in the title credits of the new series. And Moffat tweeted that people are gonna say "OMG I can't believe you brought that character back."

So I was sure when they started looking for old control rooms it would be the return of a classic control room at least (to be the classic character). Even the alt control room last seen in Hand of Fear which stylisticly would fit the show better. To be fair, the TARDIS console they built out of parts had elements of that console (the shaving mirror for instance).

I love that of course the TARDIS perceives time non-linearly and knows the Doctor's future as well.

Liked the nod (unintentional or not) to Big Finish what with the all the archived deleted companion rooms in the last Christmas story and the lost time lords seemed like an ill fated group of TLs from the Gallifrey series. Hell the asteroid could be the ill-fated remnants of the Collection.

I don't remember the specific rumour - since I've been trying to avoid spoilers...

I confess I squeed when Idris revealed she saw the Doctor's future - made my fanon in my recent Eight-regenerates-into-Nine story into actual canon. HA! :D

The asteroid also made me think of the Axis.
