I'd love to hear your thoughts on #17!

Um... hmm. Possibly I should have considered the fact that I don't have ready answers for some of these. *grin*

I'm not sure I've ever abandoned a ship I was really attached to, except for being less intensely invested in various fandoms than I used to be. I have, however, started out willing to read certain ships and gradually become less so. A lot of that was in Harry Potter fandom -- early on I was reading very indiscriminately, and I'd go along with anything that made an interesting story, and later I wound up being pickier about characterization and attitude. So:
Tom/Ginny -- yes, really. But on the condition of redemption, and that's hard to pull off, and maybe even that can't really get it past the creepy elements unless you go AU very early.
Harry/Hermione -- I didn't start out with any stake in the ship wars, so stories where the romance went another direction didn't bug me. But the H/Hr shippers' arguments for why H/G and R/Hr shouldn't happen soured me on this pairing even speculatively ( ... )

5 - Oh, goodness, which one. More cracky than funny really, though I have a friend who produced incredibly hilarious and popular HP stuff ( ... )

16 - This may be most of what I write, but it's surprisingly hard to do on demand. I keep thinking of things we've already talked about!

OK, let's see. Almost as much alternate interpretation/focus as AU, but something building on the idea that there are a whole lot of Norns, including ones responsible for specific individuals, and it's a function rather than something you get born into (and may overlap with being a valkyrie).
-I am not sure if everyone has an individual Norn, but as they are mentioned as being Aesir and Jotun and Elf and so on, they may be recursive. This could be confusing.
-I really am not sure what happens if somebody seduces their Norn. Nicer fate? Immediate death so they can be together? Norn reassigned due to conflict of interest ( ... )

*thinks* I could probably come up with a multitude of answers on this one that would not be particularly interesting, but that's no fun. I think I'll go with Elizabeth/Jack, Pirates of the Caribbean. It's not one I'd consider implausible; they're definitely attracted to each other, and while I could see debate on this point, I think giving in to that would not be OOC. But I think it's important and I like that Elizabeth nonetheless chooses and keeps choosing to keep her commitment and vows to Will, and I'm not really interested in reading fic where she doesn't.

26 is an excellent all-purpose question. I choose you, twenty-six! Wait, that doesn't rhyme...

I'm sorry, I'm rather sleep-deprived at the moment. It makes me rambly. Probably why I like 26. :P
