In case you hadn't heard
It's on every freaking channel on TV here, but in case you haven't heard the news, Pope John Paul II is dead. The official vatican announcement has not been made, but it has been confirmed that he died last night.
It's kinda weird, you know? I'm not catholic, and indeed, have a lot of issues with Catholicism. But this is THE Pope, the only one I have ever known. I respect the man a great deal, for his powerful stance on a lot of issues, and his vocal protests against many, many things. The world is a slightly darker place, now. I fear for the world, if you want to know the truth. Who knows what will come after this? Who knows what matter of man will be the next Pope? Regardless of your beliefs toward religion or Catholicism, the Pope has a powerful effect on the world, and what he says carries a great deal of weight with a great deal of the earth's population. World leaders listen to him.
