Yeah. Heart attack. Five days and five nights in the gloriously luxurious PCU unit at ARMC. Just got home this afternoon.

Sorry. Congestive heart failure. Cardiologist gets snippy if I say 'heart attack'. Also something called "broken heart syndrome" he wants me to read up on. And now that they've blasted me with IV meds and about 30 pills a day, ( Read more... )

My missing Social Security card is missing no longer! Turns out I had put it in a safe (i.e., unfindable, unrememberable) place.

Just yesterday I took a stroll down Dot Gov Avenue, looking for info on how to get a replacement card. Answer: with no small amount of annoyance and expense. Now I don't have to! :D

Went out today in search of a good Dutch oven at the discount stores. Drooled over the Le Creuset seconds, still priced in the three digits, but ended up going with a Wolfgang Puck 5 quart enameled cast iron for $35. Hope it works out OK. Just made what I think is probably my last-ever run to Borders; store closes in 4 days. Got a Kim Richey CD, a local musician's Christmas DVD, 2 hardbacks and 2 trade paperbacks. Paid $23, saved $95, according to the register tape. Oh Borders, how I'll miss you. *sigh*sniffle ( Read more... )

Got thrown a last-minute story assignment at the paper today. Basically a feature obit story on Rudy the County Shelter Mascot Dog, a boxer-chow mix the shelter staff adopted, who died yesterday.

Am now so so so very depressed.
