Perky update!
Oddly...I actually have been doing stuff! LOL
First, the personal: I am still looking for employment. If you know of anyone who needs/wants a Personal Assistant or an Office Assistant, please let me know? While the news of openings at the not-so-local tech or phone support companies is interesting...that is not really my field.
Thanks to MamaG, I am taking a couple of community classes. One is to brush up on the latest Personal Assistant stuff and the other is a Peachtree Accounting course to make me more marketable! Both are going well, even though I can only do the one on my laptop since naturally the software is not compatible with Linux.
Still no love in my live, but I am enjoying myself with friends and family. LadyD is slowly recovering, MamaG is doing well now, Mom is trudging along, dealing with her pain, my sisters are all well (though L gave us a scare last month), and a set of my nieces and nephew (one each) are currently in Cambodia building a Sports Court! Yay!! *sends love to all my non-LJ friends and to my family*
Speaking of friends...J_dav came up for a visit at the end of June/beginning of July! It was utterly wonderful to have her here in person. I am always bragging on how amazing she is and in person...she's even more so! Through luck I had access to a vehicle while she was here (LadyD's friend Mouse was in town and I drove the four of us crazy around). We went up to the Pittock Mansion, cruised around the park, detoured to Sock Dreams in Sellwood, enjoyed the air conditioning in the car on multiple happy occasions, visited the zoo, visited MamaG, and generally had a fabulous time. She even got me watering my plants! LOL!
Oo, yes, I have plants! Outdoors, hanging off the balcony, in planters! They're even green, which considering the recent heat wave that started in June and is only just starting to ebb, is amazing!
Convention stuff! Went to the GameStorm GameDay last weekend, (went to the wedding of a couple of GameStorm staff members before that!) I played several games, won about half (Woooo!) and had fun showing people how to put a Pajaggle board together with your eyes closed. By the way, it takes a LOT longer! :-) (Got my mom and sisters hooked on that game, by the way :D Not sorry!)
Upcoming is Kumoricon! I'm helping with the Cosplay Contest again :-) I so enjoy doing that. I puts all my happy little organizing feels to work. I LOVE organizing stuff. Why do you think I do it for a living? LOL!
After that is another GameDay, then Orycon! That one I am Vice Chair of Notes. I think it is going well...the chair is still pegging on the SANE side of the meter, although after the recent JayWake she may have gotten a little close to the edge for a bit.
Ah, that's something else I did. It was yesterday, you'd *think* I'd remember! LOL I was in charge of the Merry Mourners. Each of us was named after a character from Clue (I was Mrs. White...and got compliments on my dress!) and we sang Emily Dickinson's poem, "Because I would not stop for Death" to the Gilligan's Island theme. It went over really well. I am deeply sorry that Jay Lake is dying so much faster than the rest of us, but it was so beautiful to see so many people there to celebrate his life with him. (It was a pre-mortem wake. Even if he was carried in via coffin.)
I did mention the love I have in my heart earlier, yes? I assure you that I have lots and lots for my LJ Friends too. It's just that you all deserved to have it listed separate, to make it more special. *squishes you all*
So...that's me for now. I may have a health update soon, as my doctor is sending me to see a specialist, but you know me, I'm Special enough already, don't you think? :D
*more love and hugs*
