Soup is love :-)

Okay, first the soup, then I'll update everyone on what I've been doing these last few weeks!

Take all the frozen turkey broth out of your freezer. Put it in a huge pot and heat it up.
Fill a frying pan full of chicken (boneless, skinless thigh bits is what I had). The pan had hamburger grease in it from lunch.
Once the chicken is done, use a slotted spoon and put it in the pot.
Peel and dice...after I went to the store, was 5 medium yams. Cook them for a bit in batches in the frying pan. In the end, pour what is left of the juices into the pot as well.
Add bunches of spices! I went with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, curry, oregano, thyme and celery seed.
Cut up what was left of the carrots in the fridge, add them
Cut up a couple of celery stalks
Cut up the fresh green beans.
Cook for a bit. Taste. Decide it doesn't taste right.
Add cinnamon, a little clove and a little nutmeg.
Taste again. Better.
Cut up two zucchinis, add them.
Taste again. Add salt. Repeat. Mm, *much* better!
Wash the enormous bag of chard give to me yesterday by LadyD fresh from her garden. Remove stems, rough chop, add to soup. Marvel that she was right about it wilting to near nothing.
Cook for a bit.
Ladle out a bowl. Devour. Repeat. Mmmmm :-)

Okay, since last I updated, MG has gotten out of the hospital and is doing much better. The infection is being stubborn, but is starting to clear up. I've been going to her house about 3-4 times a week and helping with stuff, going through boxes of papers, sorting stuff into Go Away and Keep piles, taking out the trash and filling the recycling bin, etc.

Got three friends to come and help clear out the back room in her basement so that her cousin J could move in (Yay, she won't be living alone!!). More on J in a bit. The basement room was over 300 sq. ft and most of it was packed FULL. Mostly of books, some electronics. Also, some paper work and misc. stuff. It took 4 people 5 hours to clear it all. And most of that only went down the hall into an alcove in the laundry room (now stuffed to the ceiling with boxes of books!) or into the former computer area (now stuffed with bookshelves and other furniture). Got four of the bookcases moved upstairs so that MG could start going through the boxes and shelve the stuff she wants to keep. Which I already know will be a good chunk of them. I am so grateful to my friends for the help...seriously, these people are worth their weight in gold. *hugs them*

Cousin J is a new friend now :-) She too is interested in anime and has an amazing collection of manga and other fun stuff. She also had to move said stuff from a 900 sq. ft. two bedroom apartment to a much smaller space...and has...hording tendencies. So, she hired me to come over in the evenings to help her go through stuff and pack it. I took stuff out to the garbage and to Salvation Army and Craigslisted stuff and put stuff in MGs van and hauled things...hard work, I tell you! I adore my cowhide gloves, I really do...

So, last Tuesday the movers came and packed up J's kitchen and moved the furniture...took them like just over 4 hours (if you subtract out their lunch and all) to get everything out of the old place and into the new place. Holy Cow. And considering one of them was a Queen Sized Hide-a-bed Couch...worth the cost! ;-)

Now...I finally am done with the daily trips to help pack...Sunday I'm going over to help unpack and possibly give MG her van back if she is up to driving yet. Okay, yes, having the use of her van has been quite convenient, especially to get over to her house or over to J's...but I'm kind of looking forward to giving it back and letting her do her own shopping and doctor's appointments...as I'm sure she is looking forward to being able to do it all for herself as well :-) *hugs MG*

Hm...think I'll go do my own dishes and eat some more of the soup I made last night. LadyD's chard is quite tasty :-)

Oh, and tomorrow is Election Day for the new Kumoricon Directors...wish me luck!
