Okay, I covered Thursday through Sunday in pt. 1...so now for the final day of the con! Monday!
Monday I spent mostly wandering about at random, chatting with friends and...I may have made a final trip to the Exhibitor's Hall (not all my purchases were made at once!)
Then it was time for the Closing Ceremonies! I helped put the VIP chair covers on chairs (and helped organize some minor chair rearranging...I just can't stop myself, can I? LOL! But the front two rows were not completely filled out, 'cause we had told the hotel not to bother with more rows, so they stopped mid-row. Silly peoples. Oh, but I assure you, that Banquet Staff absolutely 100% rocked. As did the rest of the hotel's staff.)
Closing Ceremonies had a bit of a late start...so the Main Event Staff killed time playing music. Does your convention's closing ceremonies have a mosh pit? 'cause ours did. And they totally Rickrolled us too. It was awesome. Naturally there was more Caramelldancing. And again, I have video, I just need to download it from my camera :-)
Once Closing Ceremonies got going, it was just as cool. They broke Ally again, the AMVs winners video was incredible, the Hall Cosplay winners were announced, the Audience Choice Cosplay winner was announced, I won for Best Romance in the Fan Fiction contest (yay! Did I mention that before? LOL!), the hotel (same ones) were announced for next year and they debuted the 2012 Mascot...another boy! Woo! :-)
After that, I went and got my prize. I picked out a Blu-ray Season 1 of Yu Yu Hakusho :-) Yay!
Then it was off to Rant and Rave. I helped take notes, 'cause I'm also currently the Assistant Secretary :-) Things were ranted about, things were raved about, some good feedback was received and nominations for the Board of Directors for 2012 were opened.
I was nominated for Director of Relations :-) I was also suggested for the Board Appointed Position of Hotel Liaison. If I don't win Relations, I will definitely apply for Hotel Liaison. I feel honored that people think highly enough of what I do to nominate me. How could I not run? But we'll see what happens when elections happens. I'm going up against some tough competitors, after all!
Then the con was over...and the real work began. Our Event Company came and started tearing down all the pipe and drape and took out the screens and the stage and all the carpet in the Garage...Oh, I have to say, in the "It's a Small World" category...looking up to see your sister's ex-husband laying carpet (and then Monday tearing down the stage) is quite unexpected! LOL! Turns out he works for the Event Company! I totally had no clue...which my completely flabbergasted look when he first said Hi! would attest to. LOL! (Called my sister, "Hey, do you know where your Ex is?" She was all, "Yeah, he's...oh, at your hotel, laying carpet!" *rolls eyes* Man, I tell you, we need to talk more! LOL. And yes, it is an amicable split, they are friends.)
I helped roll cable and untangle cable and stacked chairs and organized the unstuffing of swag bags and disposing of the recycling and...just tried to be as helpful as possible, 'cause you all know how much I love being helpful :-) (And yes, I kept saying, "look, I'm helping!" LOL, I need to get out more, you think?) While I may not have the knowledge to do the big stuff, I try to make sure that the stuff I do have the knowledge of and for gets done and out of the way of the people who are doing the big stuff!
Afterwards there was the Dead Dog. A bunch of us chilled in the Programming Office after we got our food. Silliness was there to be had, yes :-) We helped organize the cleaning up of Con Suite so that the two women in charge weren't left with it in the morning, which would have sucked! (I was in charge of the door, letting people in and out to get more ice...we emptied three floors' worth of ice machines.) It went fast and then, back to more silliness :-)
I got a good, though short, night's sleep and then hauled my stuff down to the van. At 9am I was in Heritage looking at the large piles of stuff that needed to be loaded into the two trucks and vowed silently to be as helpful as possible and yet not be in anyone's way.
We got the smaller truck loaded first with all the stuff that didn't go to the locker, plus some that did. Then I led the way, showing the driver (code named: Ringo) where we needed to go. I helped unload the trussing, then we drove down to Milwaukie and I helped unload the Game Library. After a quick stop at my house and at Epic Gaming, we were off for the wilds of the West Side where the locker is. Of course we got there before the big truck left the hotel, so we waited. Then we unloaded the little truck. Then we waited. Then finally someone showed up with the keys to the locker (and the big truck) and we started putting stuff away. That took from about 2pm to about 5pm. The run to get more water was much appreciated.
I felt bad though. I had to sit down for a few minutes at one point until I couldn't feel my heart beat in my feet anymore. There were some people who worked that entire time...and of course some who didn't/couldn't. But next year I hope to be among those who can just keep going :-) With hydration, of course! Hydration keeps people from falling over in 90+ degree heat! There was a nice little breeze, but it was sooo hot!
When we all finished, we got into our vehicles and went to Awesome John's Pizza place (I'm not positive I have the name right, mind you.) It is a Pizza buffet and had games and rides and seriously, a grown up version of Chuck E Cheese! :-)
I tried to be good, I did. But I looked at the buffet and saw that there was, aside from a few cold veggies in the salad bar, nothing I was allowed to eat. So, I said, "This wheat and dairy free thing is to help alleviate the symptoms of my ADD, it is not an allergy. I choose to forgo that today." And I had...a lot of pizza. I also had two ICEEs and some pasta and some donuts and some ice cream. Yes, I paid for it all later, but I was hungry, tired, sore and hungry :-)
I returned to my own home at 9pm Tuesday evening.
That was my version of Kumoricon.
