Today we traveled to Morehead to attend the Honors Program Alumni Breakfast at Morehead. It was really nice seeing friends and catching up with people I don't venture off to see often. There was quite a crowd and many folks were pleasant surprises. Familiar faces work wonders on one's outlook. I need to remember that one more often.
Familial faces are also pretty great. Post-breakfast and NES sampler at Doug and Staci's, the journey progressed to Pike County (complete with requisite bartering at Page 3) and ended in Belfrey to settle for the night. I'm about to retire to study for my neglected midterm exam in Response to Terrorism and Disaster. I have a lot of material to assimilate before Wednesday. Wish me luck and motivating guilt.
Speaking of guilt, I picked up a used copy of The Tudors on DVD at Page 3. I'll never find the time to watch it but I did find the price agreeable. It'll go on the someday shelf. I know very little of the series but I got caught up in the Phillipa Gregory novels about the female playthings of Henry VII this summer, so hopefully this will prove interesting. NPR, on the drive home, featured a short about how the two youngest of the British princes were riding in a motorcycle benefit for South Africa and wagering who would be unhorsed most. Rewind 400 years and substitute motorcycles for organic steeds. While the subject changes, the basic interest of man does not.
I also picked up the first of five comics of Enders Game. Looks good so far, although this issue only saw Ender to the entrance of the Battle School. Soonish I'm going to finally read Ender's Shadow. I understand from a good source that it rivaled Enders Game, in her mind. I'm looking forward to it.
My Halloween costume, you ask? Me, too. I'm thinking Sherlock Holmes but have yet to commit. I'm completely disappointed in my lack of costume creativity.
So that will be all for tonight. I would ramble farther but the guilt is taking hold. Thanks all!
