Just pretend I post here all the time. Because I'm gonna.

Ridiculous sore throat tonight. I feel a little scorched. I'm trying to douse it with green tea and citrus but I think it's a little late. I feebly hope this doesn't progress, I have my last presentation in Molecular Epi on Wednesday. Even that is contributing to the "more of the same" cycle that I've entered this semester. Work, class, present, wash, rinse, repeat. After the biweekly presentations, I'll be committed to biweekly papers. I have great classes this semester, so I shouldn't complain. So far we've discussed bioweapons, chemical weapons, agroterrorism (with emphasis on Hoof and Mouth Disease), and nuclear and radioactive weapons in Public Health Response to Bioterrorism and Disaster. The vast number of possibilities in which a city/state/nation could come under assault (divinely or secularly) are daunting. Not much more I can reasonably say about that other than maintaining your own bunker with appropriate fail-safes doesn't sound so unreasonable after classes like these. I don't look forward to returning to my core classes next semester.

I've gone over to the dark side. The obscure, geeky, tabletop-converted-to-MMORPG darkside. I made a character on Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. I attained level 13 today. My character's name is Laelris and I have a problem. If anyone has an Order character on Bretonia, please message me. I could never understand the draw of anything massively multiplayer as I tend toward the "hell is other people" extreme of the antisocial spectrum. This ended up being far more appealing then I expected. WAR's special twist is the Public Quest. Basically, scattered across the map are locations with three timed stages that wait for you to come complete the objectives. First stage involves mass murder of 75+ enemies, second stage requires protection of key NPC's and third stage wraps up with a Champion level boss. PCs are lead to the areas through acceptance of other quests generated by NPCs in the warcamps. The only problem I've experienced so far with this setup is a dramatically uneven distribution at each of the PQ. As some of them are less accessible than others, 3-4 level 10 PCs end up facing a Level 14 champion Beastmaster mounted on a manticore. Needless to say, that didn't work out well. Twice.

The other novel aspect, as far as I know, is the option to join Scenarios. PCs join scenarios from any place on the map by queuing up for it. Scenarios are capture the flag style level-capped skirmishes between Order (high elves, dwarfs, and Empire humans) and Destruction (dark elves, black orcs, and Chaos humans). You can apparently join Scenarios almost immediately after making a character, eliminating the emphasis of leveling that is apparently the swamp of other MMORPGS. Again, I shouldn't be trash-talking any other MMORPGs since I have now found myself susceptible to their broad appeal. I apologize to many of my friends for the countless blank stares I gave them when they tried to explain how cool it was to get their mount at 40 or level their pally to 70. I knew not the power of pretty plate armor and special items.

I have recently rediscovered Kenshin and will probably catch a few episodes of that tonight. I thoroughly enjoy the gentle manslayer. I'm such a girl.

I suppose that's all for tonight. There's so much running through my head, personally, intrapersonally, academically, and recreationally. I'll have to pay for today's debauchery tomorrow by dedicating the day to homework and cleaning. Thanks for playing along with tonight's charade that I'm a good little blogger. Maybe we'll play again later.

Goodnight.
