It's recap time

Jul 09, 2008 23:46

So as I've said, yesterday was awesome. Uhh, prepare yourself for lots of pictures and rambling.

On a side note, I'm feeling really lazy right now, omg. But whatever.

My biggest struggle in the morning was to figure out what the hell to wear. It was mad hot outside, and obviously comfort is key at a concert. I settled on a Fall Out Boy t-shirt. Here is my obligatory before-leaving-the-house picture:

I look out of it because I was.

Anyway, so. Jen and I left the house at around 1:30. The ride to the city took an hour and a half. We were hungry, so we went into Chelsea Market to get some food. We wandered around for a while looking for coffee and bathrooms and water, then headed over to the line at around 4 or 4:30.

Right when we got on line, I recognized the girl in front of me. I had seen her at the New Paltz orientation--her sneakers had caught my eye because she had written "fangs up cobra style" on them and I was like :O

So yeah, I approached her and we ~conversed. Turns out her name is Nadia and she's awesome. She's also on LJ--her username is
naduni--and she's in bandom too! I was so excited. We talked while we were waiting and fun was had.

But okay. There were these young girls in front of us. Maybe like, four of them. And they looked about 15 or 16 I guess? Anyway, they were drawing dollar signs on their hands like Cash has, and I was like WTF. Then... ugh. About a half hour before the doors opened, I heard some commotion coming from the end of the line. I turned around and saw The Cab walking towards the entrance, alongside the line. THE GIRLS IN FRONT OF US STARTED SCREAMING AS IF FREAKIN, IDK, NSYNC WERE WALKING PAST. I turned to Jen and was like "WHAT. WHAT IS GOING ON?" We were horrified! One of the girls was squealing about how she grabbed one of their shirts or something. It was so pathetic.

The doors finally opened, and the stupid girls in front of us squealed again and practically fell over themselves trying to rush up the stairs. We ignored them because they were annoying.

We got inside and got to the stage. We were like, three or four rows back. Not bad. And there was no barrier--the first row was pressed right against the stage. Doug was playing. You know. Doug does Decaydance Doug. I took some pix.

All we were there for was "Like Vines."

Jen and I did the obligatory camwhore.

Next was The Morning Light, who were okay but not my thing.

But. You know how the openers mention the other bands to get the crowd to yell? Well. Ummm. When they mentioned the Cab? The crowd EXPLODED, and I was like, what the fuck what the fuck what the fuck. That was step two of me getting pissed off.

Anyway, pix.

And that's just the disco ball.

Next was Steel Train, who were. AWESOME. I just. I CAN'T EVEN. They were great performers, and it was awesome, rocking music, and just, yeah. i was really impressed, and I bought their album afterwards for only $10. Pixxx

Before they left stage, they played a song where they all sang into the mic. A song about being on the road. It was the most adorable thing EVERRR.

So cute, I swear.

So then the Cab came out to set up before their set, and people were SCREAMING and PUSHING and CALLING TO THEM and CARRYING ON, and it was AWFUL. I was like, oh my god, how does this happen so quickly. I was mostly annoyed, I must admit. Those girls are just so pathetic. Not because they like the Cab of course, but because of the REASON they like them, and how they choose to show it, and what they choose to focus on. Anyway.

Singer is a natural. He's a really great frontman.

Cash is hilarious. Oh my god. He makes the most ridiculous faces!! I laughed every time he said hey to my side of the stage.

Seriously though, when they were on everyone had their hands in the air and were jumping, and I hid behind Jen because the girl in front of us was going bananas.

Marshall was alllll the way across the stage. this was my attempt at capturing him.

Aaaand that's it. I had to concentrate on not dying for most of the set, so I didn't get to take many. They were good though. Like, they're definitely good live.

After the Cab went offstage, people started leaving. I was like WHAT IS GOING ON. I can't complain though, because the girls in front of us were like, "You want our spots?" and I was like, "YES." SO WE GOT SECOND ROW AND LIFE WAS GOOD.

So then people set up for the hushies. They put a LAMP on Greta's keyboard and I got excited.

It's an awesome lamp.

And then they went on and it was awesome. Greta turned on her lamp.

some memorable moments:

During one of the first songs, one of the speakers fell off the drum riser on their backup keyboard player. Bob and Greta didn't really let on that they noticed what happened, but at the end of the song Greta was like, "Looks like we just had a near-death experience..." and I cracked up, omg.

Bob played "Momentum" acoustically by himself. Afterwards Greta took the acoustic and stood up by Bob's mic. She had to adjust it to her height before she could sing into it, since Bob's taller than her. Anyway, after the song was over, she sat back down at her keyboard and Bob had to re-adjust the mic stand. After he finished he was like, "Man, this mic feels like Pete Wentz was just singing into it!" My jaw dropped and I started LAUGHING and I couldn't STOP OMG. I didn't even realize what he meant by the way. Then Bob was like, "I can't make fun of Pete Wentz, he isn't even HERE." So then Greta and Bob were arguing about how Greta is short, no she ISN'T, etc. Two songs later I realized it was a short joke, and I cracked up all over again. GOOD TIMES.

At one point Bob was like, "wow, it's hot in here! Everyone sweating like I am?" And then Greta was like, "Not sweating, GLISTENING!" so Bob said, "The ladies are glistening. I'M sweating!" It was adorable.

The last encore song was a cover, and for it, Darren came out from behind the drums and sang! He was amazing! Aaaah! Greta went behind the drums and Bob played the keyboard. Darren is amazing, I love him so much argh.

That's a very blurry greta behind the drum kit.

I also have a video of "Molasses," but photobucket is being a bitch and giving me errors when I try to upload it. FAIL. Maybe I'll try youtube.

Anyway, after the show I was walking towards the door so we could get merch and I felt someone poke my stomach. I turned my head and saw Cash walking by. He was like, "I LIKE YOUR SHIRT. TAKE THIS TO YOUR GRAVE!" And something else, I don't remember what. Ahaha Cash Colligan poked me in the stomach. And liked my Fall Out Boy shirt. Bahahahahahah. It was especially funny because all these girls were like, flipping out trying to get his attention but he talked to me and I didn't even try! Ahahahaha.

So then we went outside. Out there we started talking to
audrey1nd and her friend, who I am now LJ friends with. HAII!

So then, we saw Marshall hangin around and decided to go talk to him. Audrey and her friend were doing most of it, and me and Jen were hanging back watching. I had been wanting to talk to him about something though, so I was like, "I'VE JUST GOT TO ASK, what do you guys think about all this screaming?"

Marshall put on a fake befuddled look and was like, "What do you meaaan?" So I said, "PFFT, there's no way you can't hear it!" So he mumbled a little bit about not knowing, whatever whatever, then he said, "Yo, you're gonna laugh, today we did an interview with J14 magazine. It's going to be Zac Effron, the Jonas Brothers, and THE CAB."

I LOL'D OMG. Poor boys. They're going to be in the teenie magazines forever.

We chatted a little more, and then there was some commotion down the street because the Hush Sound had come out. Before me and Jen left, I walked back over to Marshall and said, "Before we go I just want to say, you guys are going to be really big." Marshall smiled and said, "I really hope so, I pray for that every night..." and I reassured him that they totally had it all set, and they were golden. etc. He was really flattered and kept thanking me, and thanked me and Jen for coming to the show. Then he stepped down off the crate thing he was standing on and hugged me (awww) and gagster high-fived Jen, and said, "We're going to see you again, RIGHT?" and he clapped me on the shoulder before we walked away, and I was like, "See you around!"

AWWWWWWWWWWW. What a cutie.

There was a mob around hte Hush Sound so I didn't really see too much of them. I gawked at Darren a little and thought about how awesome he is.

Then we walked back over to where Cash was now standing. He was wearing a GREEN CAPE with DOLLAR SIGNS all over it. And in the middle was a bigger dollar sign, superman style. WHAT A RIDICULOUS FAILBOAT. He was also wearing a huge dollar sign necklace. I went over to him and said, "I like your necklace, it's pretty epic." and he was playing with the chain, like wrapping it around his head. He was like, "Thanks... MAN, I am SO TIRED. It's been one of THOSE nights..." and I called over to him, "I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE!" OMG HE'S SO LAME.

Anyway, yeah, awesome. The guys in that band are pretty chill.

So then we left, and went to starbucks and got lemonade, then went to a diner to get foodz. And then I passed out THE END.
It was a fun night, you see. :D
