Yes, so there is like 2 extra scenes of Bofur which i think you'll appreciate. one could've been extended even more so thank god for fanfic. I texted you a bunny, did you get it? :)
I try not to be a hater, because you know how much I adore nearly everything about LOTR, but the Hobbit trilogy was such a disappointment for me that I find I'm not even interested in the EEs (nor even purchasing 2 & 3; I still do love much of #1, though). PJ just really lost his way on 2&3. I read something about how having to come into the project after Del Toro left/fired/whatever messed PJ's process up... maybe that might explain some of it, knowing how his process is a bit chaotic anyway, but it just strayed far too afield from the book for me. I think his handling of the Beorn scenes, which are my favorite book moments, was the breaking point. Those scenes were so 'filmable' as is, but... *sigh* it just didn't work.
I absolutely hate having to say that I really, really disliked the 2nd two movies. *sigh*
I think he lost his way very much with Desolation of Smaug-- that was a fiasco and i had very low expectations for "Battle" but all in all, it was watchable and i even enjoyed it enough to watch it 5 times in theaters. :) PJ put too much in those movies that didn't warrant so much battle and crap-- if he just stayed truer to the books and didn't make something out of nothing, he would've been better off. I enjoyed them as movies but not at all as adaptations. First one was the best because it didn't stray as much even though there was the extra stuff with Azog making an endless chase to Thorin and company which was extraneous as well.
And yes, i miss Beorn a lot too-- he never did give justice to him, and yes so filmable.
no problem! I mean i would still get it because it is a lovely dvd set and as a fan, it is something that we needs to get... but yeah, if you're looking for more BIlbo... PJ seemed to have disagreed. :/
Haven't managed to get the EE yet-Amazon is being evil with debit cards from Greece thanks to our capital controls, oh joy-but I was looking forward to it, though I feel PJ really dropped the ball on so many levels with the Hobbit, sigh!
