We've gotten a nice splash of snow here last week while Mickey has been in Oslo, but little sun, so no chances to take really good pictures of it. Then Thursday night I went up to join her for the weekend, thinking Norway must have much prettiness in winter. It turned out to have a lot of snow, or at least to get it while I was there -- some 30 cm over the weekend, and only a short interval of sun. In the meanwhile, Denmark got quite a layer of freezing rain over the snow, and brilliant sunshine over the weekend! Grrr! At least we got to play some Pirates of the Spanish Main with the complete (and much better) rules found in the newer expansions, and many boats. And to make the icing not entirely wasted, on the way in today I found that the snow had melted out from *under* the ice in many places, leaving interesting ice sculptures in place. I took a bunch of pictures there, but my Sigma 18-125 has turned out to have serious focus problems, which explains why my pictures tend to be so soft. I'll turn it in for repair as soon as I get the 50mm f/1.8 lens, which all reports says is *very* sharp.
