Livejournal is being a nuisance. It's stopped showing updates on my friends page, which of course it took me some time and inconvenience to figure out. Is this something I can fix, or should I just leave it alone and hope it fixes itself? The problem seems to have been happening for several days (the last post it shows is Leah's recipe post). Maybe I should just start fiddling with various settings in the hopes of knocking some sense into it.
Moving on from my technological woes (I seem to have a lot of those). In honor of the fourth of July, here's Jon Carroll's column for today. He pretty much says it all.
Scratch my patriotism, remove the thin layer of gaudy paint, and it's nothing but a total love affair with California. I'm not planning to do much of anything to celebrate today. My family's been invited to two different parties, but I've had enough of talking to my parents' friends who seem to know more about my life than I do. I also don't feel like sitting around outside, freezing my bum off and watching fireworks disappear into the fog. It can be fun, but only for so many years. Instead, I think I'll sit around at home, read my book, write happy fantasy stories, and watch more Firefly. Now that's fun.
