CHARACTER INFORMATION-
Canon Character and Series: Yagami Light | Death Note
In-Game Name: Lieutenant Light Yagami | Kira (alias)
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Position & Ship: Victoria II | Strategist

Appearance: Light has light brown hair and reddish-brown eyes that are often partially hidden by his immaculately trimmed bangs. He will freely take advantage of this in order to hide his true intentions or feelings in any given situation. At 5'10" his figure is slim and lean, with the majority of his 119 pounds appearing to be muscle. (At least, whatever isn't skin and bones. Crazy manga. >.>) He uniform is always neat and presentable even at two in the morning, should someone happen to catch him awake. Off duty, he tends to wear his tie just short of being loose, and often "forgets" to button his collared shirt all the way up. He also has an heirloom fob watch which he always keeps tucked in his vest pocket.

Personality: Although young, Light exudes confidence and maturity. He is a genius, and is used to out-thinking those around him. He is critical of people in general, seeing all as his mental inferiors. He devotes part of his free time to remaining better informed than those around him, but very rarely goes any further than that. Extremely stubborn and egotistical, Light manipulates those around him to get his way without pause or a second thought. The ends will justify the means as long as he considers the cause righteous. He calculates his every move to from birth to conclusion in his mind before he acts and therefore is rarely taken by surprise. If by some chance he is outwitted or fails to predict the outcome of an event, he resorts to petty retorts and often pouts like a spoiled child who has not gotten his way.

He believes very strongly in justice, and has often aided his father in various hunts for murderers and traitors. Too often, in his opinion, the guilty are allowed to go free because of a lack of evidence. He joined the military in his father's footsteps in order to put more of these criminals behind bars, or better: to hang.

Abilities/Weapons: Light's main ability is his intelligence, which combined with his hacking skills makes for a very formidable combination. He is well versed in chess and go, although he plays more against himself than against others. When he was younger, Light participated in several tennis tournaments, but quickly grew bored of the sport after his second year of taking the championship title.

Light has training in both hand-to-hand combat as well as sword play, but he prefers to delegate violent acts to someone who enjoys that sort of thing. However, this is not to say that he cannot, or will not, overpower someone should it come to blows.

How well can your character hack?: Medium-hard to Hard, depending on how much time (read: effort) he puts into the hack.

Weaknesses: Pride and boredom. Light is not used to being around people who are smarter or more capable than he is, and will throw a (mental) tantrum if faced with a situation he cannot control. He believes himself to be infallible and dislikes anything that corrects that assuption. Although his is very popular, he struggles to make any true emotional connection with another person, even within his own family. He does not consider anyone his friend, as no one has managed to interest him long enough or defy his manipulations.

History: Born to an Admiral and a midwife, Light Yagami was raised with the best education Ivona had to offer, and then some. Being of noble birth meant that money was rarely an object of contention, although Light's mother, Sachiko, did her best to make sure both children and husband had a healthy appreciation for the term "hard-earned pay." By the time his sister was born, the four-year-old was already in charge of keeping his room clean, putting away his dishes, and handing his mother tissues as she read sappy novels, (a job he quickly relinquished to his baby sister Sayu as soon as she could crawl).

From a very young age it was obvious to his parents that Light's mind was extraordinary. At five he could take apart and rebuild his father's radio. At twelve he began experimenting on difference engines and the mathematical theory behind them. His private tutors declared him ready for the Academy at fifteen, and his perfect score on the admittance exam seemed to agree with them. At seventeen, he became one of the youngest graduates in the Military's history.

The moment they were introduced, Light was fascinated in the new journals and how each communicated with one another. With his prior background in difference engines, the youth quickly began teaching himself to hack, something he readily excelled in. Nearly a year into his first assignment he came across a strange box laying in the middle of some ancient ruins. It took him a great deal of tinkering and not a small amount of luck, but he finally managed to fix it. He may not have understood what a radio scanner did in the old world, but the young man quickly realized that this "radio net" could be extremely useful to him in the present.
