I have been in KS for the past week. It has been the perfect mix of productivity and relaxation, which was exactly what I needed before I enter this last stretch before the wedding.
As always, it has been fun hanging out with my parents. My parents are two of the most anti-social people on the planet. They have few friends outside the family, and the friends they do have mostly live far away, so their only social obligation is holiday cards. They gripe incessantly when I schedule a social event for them with people they don't know well (even though they always end up having a good time). And yet they are Mr. and Mrs. Popular at the restaurant where they are regulars.
I have been with them to their restaurant twice in the past week, and our conversation is regularly interrupted by servers and bus boys stopping by to chat with them. Dad has become such good friends with a couple of the staff that he hangs out with them outside of the restaurant. It both boggles my mind and amuses me.
Next weekend is a bachelorette trip. I specifically picked that weekend so that the Fiance could watch the pets, but what a surprise: the AF has once again screwed up my plans. The irritating thing is that if I had known he'd be going on a work trip that weekend, I would not have scheduled the bachelorette trip the weekend after my 12 hour drive home from KS. I suppose I should be used to this by now.
