I haven't been posting much lately. Things have been going pretty well. I really like my new job. I like the work that I do. It is far more rewarding than my old job. Instead of doing the exact same test on a remote 350 times a day, while I am forced to listen to the idiots around me discuss stupid shit, I am learning considerably more complicated tasks. These tasks are sub assemblies to these Cool-Caps and CFMs.
These things are learned in bits and pieces. For example, first I learned about preparing the plastic case that goes outside the touch screen display. (Sort of like the case that is framing your monitor right now.) This is a messy process as it involves making sure there will be a dust proof silicone seal between the edge of the plastic case and the touch screen itself. Then later I learned how to install the touch screens and display screens once the silicone was dry, then I learned how to assemble the display screens.
Basically the longer I am here, the more stuff I can do. And its fun stuff. I like putting stuff together. I really like it. It's like going to work and every day its arts and crafts day. And I loved arts and crafts in school. I love making things. Shit, I had my parents bring my LEGO collection to Seattle when I moved because I love building with LEGO so much that I still want to do it.
So the work itself is great. The people are much sharper than most of the people at my old job. But most of the time I work by myself, which I love, because I like to work by myself, independently. And even better, we can actually listen to our mp3/ipods here! I haven't been able to do that since watch school. It makes everything just... better somehow.
Anyway, that is kind of how things are going. I really hope I can keep this job and become financially stable. That would be a very good thing.
