checkerdandy interviewed me:
1)Leave me a comment saying "interview me".
2)I will respond by asking you five questions of a very intimate and creepily personal nature (well not really creepy but, you know, I might ask you some tough questions).
3)You will update your LJ with the answers.
4)You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post.
5)When others ask to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.
1. What made you decide to cut your hair short and dye it red?
I decided to cut my hair short last summer because I was tired of the ponytail (not very becoming), and I couldn't afford to devote an hour of time to dry and straighten my hair at camp last summer. I went to the hair place not sure how short I'd go and ended chopping it way short. The dyeing thing....I had toyed with the idea of doing it at the beginning of last summer, and chickened out. So then Karla (best friend from WA) was here last weekend and I'm not sure how it came up, but I decided to do it then. It was kind of a whim. But I absolutely love it, even though it was a little scary, since I'd never dyed my hair before.
2. How old were you when you pierced your eyebrow, and why did you do it?
I got my eyebrow pierced in September 2004, about three days before classes started at the beginning of my sophomore. I spent years trying to make the decision. I decided that I thought eyebrow rings were cute in sixth grade when watching reruns of The Real World: Boston. The chick with the European boyfriend had a cute one. My parents weren't too keen on the idea, and I didn't think about it too much during college. During freshman year I thought about it a lot, and then when Kim visited me in WA she convinced me to do it - so I did it the day after I got back to Idaho.
3. Who is your favorite girl music group? Do you have a favorite?
Hmm. I don't think I have a favorite female music group. I have a lot of female artists I like a whole lot, my favorite being Ella Fitzgerald. Although Bif Naked and Sarah Mclachlan are tied as close seconds.
4. Do you have a fandom that you can talk about for hours and scare people with your enthusiasm?
What's a fandom? The only thing I think I am a little weird about is the goddess obsession. I can talk about that forever and not get tired (goddesses from every culture...you never run out of material!) and people really do look at me like I'm nuts. Although there are a few bands that I'm a little obsessed with. For instance, I still know all the past and present dirt on Hanson. Oh! Camp. I still don't understand what a fandom is, but I am so so so obsessed with camp, and can sing songs and tell stories and give you theories and ideas and advice. I could do that forever and never tired, and when I talk about it I practically switch personalities - I go from "Brenda" to "Pepsi," who is a much better person, if you ask me.
5. What was high school like for you? Positive/negative, and why?
High school was...all right, depending on what you were talking about. During the three years at the high school (9th grade was at the junior high so I don't really count it as high school). But let's see...the postitive aspects were choir, camp fire, and a few classes that I did really well in. Each year in choir was better than the last - I wasn't a really really great singer, but I wasn't bad, and everything was student run and I did leadership stuff a lot. My senior year I was president and organized a choir tour (the first one that school had taken in years) and did funderaisers and stuff. And some of my best friends were in concert choir with me (small auditioned class). Camp Fire was busy but awesome - I love being in charge of things, and I ran a group, got my wohelo (kind of like a boy scouts eagle scout except a hell of a lot more work, if you ask me), was a counselor at day camp, etc. It's sad that I don't do a lot of things that use my leadership skills, because I got a lot of practice in high school. The negative things were that I was a mess when it came to dating (one boyfriend who was absolutely not the one for me), and I was pretty shy, and had some issues with being scared of people and sitations with lots of people. That kept me back from a lot of things I probably would have enjoyed. Overall though, I look on high school positively.
