Vampire Supermen Party

I think maybe this one might be a little more advanced than my usual, but the issue is something I'm curious about, as a sociological issue, and through the prism of my studies.  This won't be an exhaustive explanation, but hopefully my ideas will communicate enough - I tend to keep some vital information in my head at times, which is a ( Read more... )

That's the reply of that little bird that bobs up and down drinking water. :D

No, it's the Magic 8 Ball response.

I was tempted with "Outlook good" or "it is decidedly so"

I was going to respond with more, but what with house move shenanigans, reading and tiredness (as well as a husband who needs a good smack round the back of the head) I've just not had time to put my brain to things.

Lol.

I aim my brain at things so it doesn't devour shit in its path. Last time I moved house, I made Mr. Minty leave with the kids while I mounted up and unpacked, so there was less of a desire for killing. :D

How can anyone say "it will never happen again" when it has happened again and is happening again? That`s ludicrous ( ... )

I agree - but foolishly, people in Western countries often seem to think we've "learnt our lesson" - you can find all kinds of crap waxing lyrical about it.

I would win all the fights in Denmark by *agreeing with people*. Huzzah! :D

Mein Kampf didn't really have much to say about women, other than we were to be pure and upstanding so as to be the vessel for strong German men. Of course, I'm a truly faulty vessel, so I don't think it's possible.

Mr. Minty was telling me that Viking swords are absolute crap - and that they were eager for Frankish steel for their swords - and with that kind of outlook, they certainly didn't think they were the best.

To me it seems like everyone is "agreeing with people" in Denmark so that wouldn`t win you anything. It really bothers me how few voices are heard to speak against this crap that is Danish official policy at the moment.
Oh - and intellectuals are being shunned too. The latest bulletin being that intellectuals a poorer parents.

German women got medals for having plenty of children. I expect they counted fingers and toes on all children before the medals were handed out.

Yeah, but telling them it's an Australian idea, by virtue of the fact that I'm not Danish means I'd win by default.

Of course we are - we're shit at everything except being in our ivory towers and thinking about hoity toity things.

With the addition of DNA, things would become so much easier.

Well, the Viking people would have been a collection of fiefdoms, and while they met at moot courts, it wasn't until later that there was the sort of central authority grouping we see now.

It's fascinating to me that they would take vampires' words for it. Obviously, this fandom shouldn't be split on this idea, because ain't none of us vampires.

Denmark was made one country by Gorm the Old in the late 900s
Norway is said to have been one country by Harald Hårfagre (means beautiful hair - he refused to cut his hair before he had all of Norway) though it wasn`t what Norway is today. He was considered the first king of Norway from 872
Eric the Victorious was the first king of Sweden and he also lived in the late 900s.

Those kings were more like "foremost among likemen" (is that a term in English?) - and their sovereignty had to be constantly proven and fought for. Their oldest sons were *usually* made kings after them but it wasn`t until much later that was a certain thing. The new king would usually have to swear to and promise a whole lot of things to be named king.

No central authority though - that's what I mean. I can go into the city and find central authority for my city, my state and my federal government.

Well, I love Wagner too. Not his ideas or even the tales, but the music. I love opera in general but so much of it is wussy and I`m kind of tired of all the weak women dying from consumption. When you go to see a Wagner opera you know you`ll be blown out of the opera house.

I like drama in my classical music. Shostakovitch`s Leningrad symphony is another favorite.

But my absolute favorite opera, and it has an immensely stupid woman in it so that goes to show that I`m all about the music and not about the storyline, is Puccini`s Tosca. I cry every time I see/hear it. Really and truly.

(explanation: Tosca has made a deal with the cruel police inspector - Mario is to be pretend-executed. She praises him for being such a great actor. She`s been double-crossed, of course, and he is really dead. The moment she finds out... oh, the horror)

Oh, now I envy you! I`ve song in a choir since I was a kid but never anything like that. Singing operas, even dying women LOL, would be such a dream come true for me. It wouldn`t have to be on a stage or anything - just being able to do it. Wow ( ... )

Interesting…I hate that word ‘interesting,’ but, yeah, that’s what I mean, and I can’t come up w/ another word right now. (Don’t slap me, okay?) I love the social psych stuff on this topic, but I’ve never come at it from Wagnerian opera. And I’ve never thought about applying these ideas to the pet/vamp fics. In fact, my brain gets a little twisted thinking about this because, of course, vampires aren’t real-they’re a human creation, a work of fiction. But I realize that that is the point…that how we create them and respond to them says something about us ( ... )
