Sunday and Monday I went to Rhode Island with Caitlin and her mom. Crazy fun? Heck yes. But it was also bittersweet. It's probably my last time with Caitlin until maybe November, December, or later. Some people embrace change. Well, I would not be one of those people. I hate change. As much as I hate high school, I would be perfectly content going there for 4 more years before I have to think about college & change.
So anyway, let's talk about Rhode Island. The weather was nice. The ocean was cold, but we're hard core boogie boarders, so we got used to the water. We went into a parking lot and asked the girl about something for Monday. She responded by saying that monday is a holiday. Now, nobody else was aware of any Aug 14th holiday. She said it was VJ day. Me & Caitlin thought the girl was just crazy but when we googled it (yes, I love how google is a verb now), we found out that the girl was right. VJ stands for Victory and Japan. So VJ day was a celebration for our victory over Japan in a war. And I guess a bunch of other states used to celebrate this holiday as well but now most don't...well, Rhode Island still does.
We also say a couple walking their dog in a stroller. Weird, I know.
We watched a guy play hackey sack for about an hour...and added in his thoughts and stuff. For example, we named him Jared. He had an iPod on his arm. So I said I was wondering what he was listening to and proceeded to start singing "Oops, I did it again..." because I thought it would be really funny if this jacked sports guy was secretly listening to Britney Spears.
Caitlin got burnt insanely bad. When we stopped at CVS to buy aloe lotion we saw an old african american woman in the store. Picture this...at large african american woman in her late 50s with a brighet orange shirt on that said...get this...."I ain't scared of the po' po'." A wonderful sight. I wish I could have taken a picture of it.
Today they opened the beach! Yesssss. I really wanna go swimming right now, but I'm going to the movie Step Up with Mike at 4. Then it's Mass. Yea. Hopefully every other day this week I get to go swimming.
