hi.
i've stumbled across your lj and thought i'd say hi. i'm kara. i used to take viola lessons from your mom and babysit at your house occasionally. for you and E and C (mostly E and C).
your youngest sister is now quite good friends with my youngest sister katie (at least this is the impression i get).
anyway. thought i'd say hi, and let you know that your desire for a copy of faith and practice is not petty. but it may not be something you need to purchase. i think you can call the yearly meeting office and get one, or from your meeting for free. i'm almost positive i didn't have to spend any money to get mine, but i'm not sure. it was a long time ago. I've been involved in the quaker religion since right before freshman year of highschool. and while technically i'm not a member, i have been attending meeting (at old chatham) for over 12 years, and have served on a number of committees for NYYM. I was the coordinator for JYM for several years, which was an awesome experience. someday I will apply for membership officially. it's just one of those things that hasn't seemed as important as actually living my life by quaker values, but something i'd like to do at some point.
Is your meeting part of NEYM or NYYM? NYYM is starting to re-vitalize it's Circle of Young Friends and Young Adult Concerns Committee, and if you're interested in getting involved, I'd be more than happy to send you some contact info for folks.
anyway, i'll putter off now. just wanted to say hello and let you know i had stumbled upon you, and was quite pleased to see someone from my past that had far more in common with me than i would have imagined.
PS. and while possibly slightly more petty, the Tassajahara Bread Book is still an excellent item to have. i've purchased 2 copies, because the one i lent my step-dad apparently was quite well-loved and it seemed mean to leave them without a copy as well.
