My 80s soundtrack

Call this a slightly belated tribute to the late lamented John Hughes. I make no apologies for the slightly predictable nature of this post.

So, to lead off, Yello's Oh Yeah, from the Ferris Bueller's Day Off Soundtrack.

The Jesus and Mary Chain's Hardest Walk-- from the Some Kind of Wonderful Soundtrack. I didn't see the movie, but I loved the Jesus and Mary Chain, and this kind of stuff is very much at the core of my musical interests.

This is more or less obligatory-- Pretty in Pink by the Psychedelic Furs. I'm posting this version because it's the recording used in the movie soundtrack, but it was actually a re-recording. Please look up the original-- it's quite a bit cooler. As for the movie, I remember it because it I was so very dissatisfied with it.

Not appearing in this post: Patti Smith's version of Gloria appears in the Sixteen Candles soundtrack. If you read/listen to this journal you'll know it's already in an earlier post on a different theme, so I'll spare you the repeat.
