Because of considerations like sleeping before and after work, the picture flow is a bit behind. Much more progress has been made as of today, I just haven't been awake (or energetic enough) during the day to take photos! Suffice it to say that I am in the small second floor bedroom, and the workers are hammering away on the other side of the window.
The following show what had been done by day's end on Monday: framing of the basement walls and overhead. View from the deck:
This shows the "east elevation" and the rough framing where a nice double window will be placed in the basement room. Alert readers will recall that I am calling dibs on this new room as MY office/studio/retreat.
And I will have a view of my brookside garden:
On the north side, though it's hard to see both in the same photo, two windows have been roughed in: a double, and a single next to the door.
The view out the double window isn't all that inspiring right now, but when all the construction is over it will overlook the lawn and the space formerly-known-as-vegetable-garden (I'm still trying to decide what to do with it--veggies or a magnificent mixed border, English-style).
With outer walls up in the addition, the present kitchen is really dark! There will be a good sized opening between rooms, however, so I'm hoping that will compensate.
More picspam to follow tomorrow.
