Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks
NaNoWriMo is total bullshit.
Honestly, I've never understood how 'National Novel Writing Month' garners so much enthusiasm. The goal of writing a good novel is certainly an admirable one, but what on earth do you intend to achieve throwing it together in a month? I don't see the victory and personal accomplishment of pounding out a collosal 50,000+ word garbage pile in 31 days or less.
Do you expect it to make you a better writer? As though writing can be mastered without finesse and structure, but through pure bulldozing musclepower instead? I'll agree that practice can help hone your writing skills - only constant writing will develop allow you to develop your craft; still this is generally best done personally and gradually through patience, attention and rewriting.
Bragging about some beast of an epic you pumped out amidst the cheers over cappucinos with your fellow wrimo buddies, regardless of the behemoths form and content, is ridiculous.
