Katrina 2

The Hurricane Reloaded

I swear, America is all about hype. Hype which, ironically, generally originates from a horrible original miscalculation earlier. This may as well be Katrina's sequel; in the tradition of sequels in gets a huge original fanfare riding the coattails of it's predecessor...only to ultimately flop.

The third most powerful storm! Ever! Trees will fly, there'll be like - a gazillion tornadoes - and flying houses...and holy shit warlocks too...! This is the one...really!

Thank God we live in the greatest nation ever! Just keep praying for that hurricane to move off it's course! I've had to have heard the 'praying' advice from every elected official and weatherman on television; it doesn't make sense, the tornado is going to have it hit , so basically your praying for it too hit someone else other than you? If God creates these hurricanes in the first place, I think he has a good idea what he wants to do with them.

Which primarily consists of sinking his holy fist of love into the festering centers of sin and decadence along America's coast; giving Mardi Gras and Girls-Gone-Wild a smackdown of biblical proportions, old testament style. I swear someone actually offered me this reasoning with a straight face.

The government is still in damage-control on it's disaster managing the Katrina gumbo (on more levels than one), big surprise it would jump all over this opportunity to parade out FEMA and the National Guard. Yes, the same disaster management that took all the shit from the previous hurricane.

Don't get me wrong, I couldn't be happier we converted the house to a cold war bunker for little to no reason. I'm honestly relieved its not remotely as tragic as it could have been. I'm starting to think that the media is honestly disappointed over this one though. I'm not kidding, meteorologists are tacking huge warnings onto every concession of the storm's dwindling. Eyewitness correspondents are being badgered with questions, warned about the 'very strong winds' in obviously sheepish tones. All this in comparison to when they were in their element earlier. Think about the ratings.

So obviously I'm very happy! So much so I decided to use the energy to produce a juvenalian little rant like this one. Thank God it's not going to be as bad as it could have been. It's still rather sunny out, so i'm out to play some tennis. More fair and unbiased updates later.

Fun Fact: More deaths as of now have resulted from evacuations than from the actual hurricane (bus explosion killing 24)
