It's not a big deal. He was only beaten to death.

So, this should irk a few people.

"The Laramie Project" has be cancelled.

Yes, just a week before auditions are set to begin, the district and sweet Montgomery have puleld the plug on our long-since-approved spring play. Interesting, no?

I'm not even going to go into the pure INSANITY of this. I'm not going to rage right now. I'm saving that for tomorrow, when I'll give her a piece of my mind, along with the rest of the drama, speech, and every other department. But I will point out two things, one which I realized and another that Bill pointed out.

The people who made some cowardly call to complain are the same people who, no doubt, brought their small children to "Peter Pan". "Peter Pan" is a play that advocates disobeying parents, theft, and rebellion, as well as violence, cursing, sexism, and racism. Laramie is simply a play about a town recovering from a hate crime. Interesting.

They are also the same people who will go see "The Passion of the Christ" this weekend, and watch a man get beaten, persecuted, tortured, crucified, and left to die because of WHO HE WAS. But they will not allow us to portray the exact same storyline because the subject, instead of being a Jew, is gay.

It's ludicrous. It's so cowardly and asinine. They give us crap about equality and Breaking Down the Walls and whatever, but when it comes to hate crimes, OH LORDY, no.

Pah. Whatever. I pray that Bill come up with something good and pay-backy. I know he will.

outrage, pissed, omgwtf, drama, movies
