Oh. Oops. I wasn't paying attention. I sorted Sherlock, not Benedict. I don't know beans about Benedict as a person. Sorry for possibly throwing off your poll, here.
Hmm. My first instinct is to say Hufflepuff. He's a hard worker (jesus Ben take a break now and then) he almost never has a bad word to say about anyone (other than paparazzi photographers and they deserve it) and he is kind almost to a fault. He puts tons of research into his roles and is almost painfully earnest. His natural instinct seems to be modesty about his own looks/talents, and it doesn't come off as false. He's enjoying his fame to an extent, but he's honest in interviews about how what he really wants is a family.
It just seems very Hufflepuff to me, y'know?
(Sherlock on the other hand, is Ravenclaw through and through.)
I voted slytherin, mostly because he's gloriously upper class and also brilliant at acting haughty. I realise this is not a scientific reason :D (I don't actually know all that much about him as a person! I just think he's cute ♥)
I completely agree with you on the cute. He tends to come across very sweet and giggly in interviews based on the videos I've seen. and he really does like to ham it up for the camera.
Skydiving + motorcycle + works at what he loves until he collapses in exhaustion + unusually high libido + tart for attention + chivalrously notes the genius in others + unable to regulate his verbal enthusiasm + can't help speaking out against somewhat inaccurate charges of poshness + assumes his place is at the center of attention = Gryffindor, baby!
I just blogged this on tumblr and the few responses I received all sort either Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff. I wonder if you can post a comment anon and without a tumblr.
Which house does she say John belongs to? I can make a case for Gryffindor or Hufflepuff, but I think his loyalty wins out over his courage in that case. Though it's a very difficult call to make. (Mostly, I just want John in the same house as me.)
Let's see is she's lurking and decides to add her own voice to this. But she has good claims as to why the bravery of Gryffindor is more evident in him than the loyalty of Hufflepuff. I think he was more Gryffindor in season one, but that his loyalty is really the linchpin for season two, so I put him in Hufflepuff.

Hnnng god I hope so. Even though it still increases my chances from zero to twice that much, which is still zero.
I guess I just like the idea of him having a lot of sex. Oh god.
