Hermione hesitated. She didn’t trust that book, but Harry carried it around everywhere and it was a rare chance that she could examine it for herself. She finally opened it and studied the handwriting. The owner had lived in Advanced Potions. His writing had filled everywhere margin; an intricate dance between the active mind and the permanent ink. Hermione could feel his love for the pages at every fold and crevice. She didn’t think anyone else would understand books the way she did.
She should’ve expected to be let down. Severus Snape had always loved to denounce her in class.
