Carla shifted uncomfortably in her seat again and her fidgeting finally caught her husband’s attention.
“Are you okay?” Memphis asked quietly.
“Yes. I just really have to pee,” Carla replied.
Memphis gave her a concerned look, “You went just before the ceremony started.”
“I know,” Carla shot him an annoyed glare. “You try having two babies using your bladder as a trampoline and see how long you can go between bathroom breaks. This is your fault, you know.”
“Yes. Sorry,” Memphis gave her a sheepish grin. “I think the ceremony is almost over. Do you think you can make it to the end?”
“I hope so,” Carla said. “But if I’m pregnant for the next family wedding we are so sitting all the way in the back so I can slip out if I need to.”
Memphis just smiled and took her hand, rubbing small circles in her palm with his thumb to try and distract her for the remainder of the ceremony. Finally the bride and groom kissed and as everyone stood to applaud the newlyweds Carla quickly made her escape down the side aisle towards the bathroom. Behind her Memphis tried not to laugh as he watched Emmi and George follow Carla’s lead.
