Prompt #14: Flying

Characters: Captain Cook and Cara
Summary: Captain really loves to fly (seriously, these are hard to come up with sometimes!)

Note: No spoilers. This is canon but probably won’t be seen in any chapters.
Captain’s joints ached and his knees creaked as he crouched down, trying to get enough leverage to propel himself into the sky.
“I really ought to retire,” he said to himself as his joints screamed in protest. “Dorian is all trained up and he’s already working with George to prepare him. I should let them have their turns.”
It was a conversation that he seemed to have with himself every morning. But then he launched himself into the sky, savoring the immediate adrenaline rush as the constant dull aches in his body seemed to just melt away.
“Or perhaps they can wait just a little longer…” he thought as he darted through clouds.
From the window Cara watched him fade away into the distance with a knowing smile. No matter how many times Captain said he was going to retire she knew that he would never give up the ability to fly.

Summary: Memphis has a new video game.

Memphis jumped in surprise when Viola leaned over his shoulder. “What are you playing now?” she asked.
“Geez Vi! I didn’t hear you come in!” Memphis said. “I’m playing The Sims Medieval. I got a free demo copy at the gamer club.”
“Interesting,” Viola replied. “What are you doing?”
“Making a bard. I kind of want to make her look like my Mom but maybe I shouldn’t…”
Viola laughed, “Actually that would be hilarious. Do it!”
“Okay, okay,” Memphis grinned as he gave the sim red hair and dressed her in all green. “Too bad they don’t have a plaid pattern.”
“So do you have to give them personality points?” Viola asked.
“No you give them traits and a fatal flaw,” Memphis replied.
“Ooooh! What are you going to give your mother the bard?”
“Hubris,” Memphis answered without missing a beat.
“That sounds right,” Viola replied. “What are the other choices?”
She scanned the list for a bit commenting on a few of the traits, “Cursed. That’s what Robert would probably think his was. Licentious or maybe Morose for Falcon. Uncouth. That’s probably Jeanie’s.”
“No Jeanie is Insecure,” Memphis replied. “The uncouth part is just her lashing out.”
Viola glanced at Memphis out of the corner of her eye. “Yeah, you’re right. What do you think mine is?” she asked in an attempt to lighten the mood.
Memphis gave her a mischievous grin, “Well as the two meanest sims of our generation I’d have to say ours is ‘bloodthirsty’.”
Viola cracked up. “And Aunt Adelina would have to be glutton with all of the grilled cheese she eats.”
“Yeah,” Memphis grinned. “Not sure about anyone else though. The list is a bit limited.”
Viola nodded, “Maybe they’ll expand it when they release expansion packs. Enjoy your game. Let me know if you need suggestions for any other characters.”
“Will do,” Memphis replied as Viola left the room, still giggling.
