Coverdell ESA

As far as I'm aware, the only financial assistance for sending a kid through daycare is either the child-care credit or the child-care flex account through employers

We're already max'd out on the child-care flex account.

Now here's something I'm just learning about, Coverdell Education Savings Account Formerly known as the Education IRA. Qualified expenses:

Tuition, room, board, fees, supplies, and special needs related to the attendance of a qualified elementary, secondary, or post-secondary institution

A comparison of educational savings programs here

I've never been a fan of the 529 program. Although we participate in Upromise, I haven't designated a "student" yet.

More on Coverdell ESA:

K -12 expenses will no longer qualify, the annual contribution limit will be reduced to $500, and withdrawals will not be tax-free in any year in which a Hope credit or Lifetime credit or Lifetime Learning credit is claimed for the beneficiary.
