Last Weekend
Last weekend turned out to be fun-filled, mostly. Friday we stopped by some friends where they have a 5 year old daughter and a 14 month old. Jana loved playing with the 5 year old and they spent a lot of time unsupervised in her room. We suddenly heard crying and Megan came running down, "Jana got hurt." I run up and she's hysterical so I don't get clear information. I gave Jana a hug and she was ready to move on. She climbed right back onto Megan's bed and started jumping. I eventually figured out that she was jumping on Megan's bed, jumped off or slipped off and hit her head on the end table. Sigh. How am I going to keep up?
Saturday was the Pittsburgh International Children's Festival, which overlapped with Venture Outdoors and other events. We mostly stayed with the Children's Festival.
Sunday, I helped a friend with her budding garden market business and coordinated seedling sales with my neighbor. Then watched CMU's Commencement live on-line. We were then going to take Jana to see Shrek, but in the process of some arts and crafts and me more watching Bill Cosby's Keynote, Jana took her scissors and began to cut her hair. I did nothing but short of freak out. She clipped most of her curls on the right side and gave herself some hideous bangs.
After a washing, it does look much better. But I was in no mood to take her to see Shrek after that.
Later on, we did hit the SouthSide works for an afternoon Caribou Coffee break, bookstore and we were supposed to hit REI, but they were closed so we went to the dancing waters in front of Cheesecake Factory. Jana followed what the older kids did, took off her shoes and socks and proceeded to play in the water. Never one to pass up a puddle and no sooner when her toes touched the ground, her feet swept up underneath her and she bounced her bum and head off the brick pavement.
How do I keep up with this again?
