Weather has been awesome here. Have been trying to squeeze in as much gardening as I can.

Sat: picked up a bunch of strawberries
Sun: set up gro-pole
Mon at lunch time: put 40 qt of potting soil into strawberry bag (pix to come later)*
Tue: I hope to squeeze in more at lunch time today

* - Instead of miracle-gro potting soil, which I always have to mix peat moss with, I went with a Bayer brand that advertised it was made with organic materials. I can't remember the exact name, that's all I happen to remember. Wow, great looking, feeling and smelling potting soil. It seemed that I didn't need to add anything to it. Unfortunately, 40 qts didn't fill the bag but we decided to leave it at 2/3's full for now.

What I'd like to get done before it rains tomorrow afternoon:
1) plant strawberries into bag
2) plant mountain princess tomato into 5 gallon bucket
3) plant 2nd red pear tomato into bed

That's actually a lot.

My MIL really ticked me off this weekend.

On Sunday, while I was unpacking the gro-pole, my in-laws showed up. They were surprised to see me. I said, "Wow, we didn't expect you. It would have been nice if you called." My MIL said, "I was hoping you wouldn't be home." What the hell? What a damned thing to say. I decided to actually say something instead of holding it in, "Oh, how sneaky of you." In as spiteful a way that I could say it.

They showed up to borrow a manual lawn mower and to drop off Easter gifts for Jana. What the hell kind of grandparents come over and hope to not see their only grandchild? What the hell kind of parents say that in general? I called Michael out and we told them, "Well, lucky for you we were home because the lawn mower is in storage for the winter ." Then Michael put me on the spot, "Didn't you want to give some seedlings to my dad?"

I'm thinking, "Crap, are you kidding me? Not at this moment, no."

I'm rather proud of my gardening so far. I've got stuff out early and my stuff is doing well considering some seedlings I've lost so far. Lost due to planting medium, not weather. Even Michael, who really doesn't have any interest, seemed to be boasting a little of our gardening gadgets. My MIL was unimpressed and just said, "Oh yes, I know all about that. They've been advertising all of those on QVC all month." Yes, QVC is like a church to her.

Sigh.
