The $1 Trip for Bounties

Mar 30, 2010 04:32

Last week, Jana's teachers (3) took the class (PreK/K) to Entropy, a mini mart on campus. There are roughly 20 kids in the class, and each were given a dollar to do so as they pleased. They were very excited and many discussed what they would do with their new found fortune, "I want to get something healthy but I want leftover money" this was from Misty, who is one of Jana's closest friends.

When they arrived, it was apparently a scene. And it probably was entropy at Entropy. Laugh.

They eventually converged in the candy aisle, not really what I wanted to hear, but I guess that's what they chose for their dollar. Misty did find an apple and asked how much it cost. "One dollar." "Oh, too much. I want money back." She found a lollipop for $0.15 and happily pocketed $0.85. I told her mom, as we were told this story at the end of the day, "Now you know which kid should be executer of your trust." :)

One of Jana's other friends, Max, chose to aim higher. "Who wants to add their money to mine and get something better?" However, the rest were very similar to Jana, looking to spend every penny of their own dollar.

Then, as her teacher continued with her story, when they went outside to enjoy their treasures, Jana stood in front of her class and proclaimed to all, "I would like to share my Swedish Fish. Who would like a Swedish Fish?" She had apparently started a small trend as others followed suit to share their bounty.

One child, decided to stretch his bounty and when he came to his last 5 Skittles, he broke them into even smaller pieces and tried very hard, to make them last.

Jana's Swedish Fish cost $0.85, she spent her remaining $0.15 on a lollipop just as Misty bought. She brought it home and doesn't seem to be interested in it. So um, she too, could have brought home change.

If I plant the lollipop, would we get a lolli-stalk and find a goose who lays golden eggs?
