I have almost always had a slim digital camera on me since the first generation Minolta DiMage came out, I think either 2001 or 2002. In 2005, Jana won a DiMage Xi (and in addition, it seems she also won the hearts of some employees at Minolta). Recently, I haven't been happy with the photos it's been taking that I haven't been taking many photos in general. It's been dropped too many times. I do let Jana use it since it really is her's, but we both have dropped it.
This weekend, I just ordered my new Christmas gift, an Olympus Stylus 790 SW!
I really wanted either the orange or lime versions, but only the black one was available for $250 at Amazon with free shipping.
My favorite review on this camera so far regarding its build quality:
Really. And by indestructible I mean it has survived being burried at the beach, dropped in the bubble bath, thrown in the toilet (more than once), gone through the dishwasher cycle (don't ask), dropped from our 3-level balcony to the sidewalk below, and having been laundered (washer AND dryer). It's a really nice camera, I did get to play with it while at Target. Biggest bummer is that it uses xD instead of SD (which I have a decent collection of). I can deal. Part of me wishes I could purchase it at a brick and mortar, so when they offer to sell me an extended warranty I can laugh myself right out of the store!
I still have Jana's b-day photos and photos from Hawaii to post, we used our new Canon 40D for this. Michael got a bonus for work and we were able to use half of it towards upgrading our Canon 10D.
If there's any interest in a very good condition Canon Digital Rebel (I think 2nd gen), let me know. I'll be posting our's on eBay soon. We'll be posting the 10D as well.
