Hello again

Wanna hear more car drama? Guy is still in jail - I now have a name - b/c he couldn't make bond and then they found out he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest that had gone unnoticed somehow until after his initial hearing anyway. Communication between Gwinnett and Dekalb, or either with myself, leaves much to be desired. Det Jackson has been swell, but now he's pretty much handed the case over to the DA, who was supposed to contact me last week but hasn't yet. So I have to call him sometime soon to see what is going on.

I thought there was no damage to my car, and there isn't technically anything tangibly wrong with it, but the guy did a number on it regardless. I am really anal retentive about keeping up with my gas mileage, and my Saturn always got a consistent 31 mpg minimum (35 mpg when we went to Savannah, which was nothing but highway miles.) That's 350 mi/tank. The past 3 weeks since I got my car back, I've barely been getting 300 mi/tank, which translates to about 26 mpg. Which is a significant difference, and pisses me off more than is expressible in spellable words. I called my mechanic to see what he thought about it, and he said the guy probably just drove my car way too hard and added significant wear and tear to the engine and transmission during the <24 hours that he had. He said that it's irreversible, and there's nothing I can do to restore my car to it's previous fuel efficient glory. I know this sounds so trivial, especially compared to what could have happened in a worse case scenario, but it's heartbreaking to me. I hate this person more than anyone can know.

MOVING ON. In better news, I had a series of interviews yesterday for the permanent position here at work, and I think I did pretty well. Still not convinced I will get the job, if only because the competition has seniority over me, but everyone I've spoken to about it has been very encouraging. One of my interviewers told me all about the company benefits Merial offers, and all I'll say now it.... DAMN I WANT THIS JOB! A financially-stable office job that is enjoyable, with great co-workers and terrific benefits? OMG. So now I'm more anxious about it than ever. We'll find out who got the position by next Tuesday; in the meantime, please keep your fingers crossed for me <3

Snow last night was pretty, but by the time I got off work it was so dark and cold out that I didn't feel like playing in it, and it had melted by this morning (surprise surprise.) I remember the last time I got to play in the snow... about 4 years ago, I think... the flurries last night were nice, but I am looking forward to it warming up a bit.

Going out with some coworkers tonight, which will be nice, and Bryan is planning to come over later on which will be doubly nice. It feels like it should be Friday. The whole week has felt like that.

Brian and I have the whole weekend off, quite unexpectedly, but I am by no means complaining. I'm planning to make it as relaxing as possible =)
