Legend?

So, I want to see I am Legend, but I am afraid that something bad is going to happen to the dog and upset me. Yes, I know how silly that is, but I just can't handle animal violence in movies (or real life, of course.) That's why I have never been able to finish Dances with Wolves. Not that that's a huge loss I guess ( Read more... )

You shouldn't go see it.

Since he and his dog are "alone" for most of the movie, the movie itself is driven by Will Smith's character acting. He has to carry the movie by himself with his exceptional skills in acting (IMHO) through various emotions including during one scene when a tragedy befalls his dog - think Tom Hanks a la Castaway and his companion Wilson.

The rest of the movie is...OK. Again, you get to closely observe Will Smith's abilities as an actor, so if you're a crazy fan of his like I am, then it's worth seeing it... but he's no Tom Hanks in Castaway =P. Acting aside, the movie is a stereotypical zombie movie with scares and jumps.

I thought it was going to be a vampire movie with lots of action where the bad guys are your run of the mill vampires trying to get Will Smith from turning everyone back into people. But no, the "vampires" turned out to be people mutated into wild zombie like creatures that can't be in the sunlight. It's a zombie survival flick, not that I mind, but you know the ending's going to suck, and sure enough during the last 10 minutes a new element is introduced to the movie that makes you go "ugh, that's right, I'm watching a zombie movie, of course it's going to end like this". I enjoyed most of the movie as it's really just Will Smith, but the ending left this bad taste in my mouth.

Oh and graphics wise, I think the CG company for this movie is the same company for I, Robot. All the creatures are CG by the way -_-; In fact, I thought this movie was a lot like I, Robot... but instead of tons of crazy robots out to get Will Smith, now there are tons of crazy zombie creatures.

I don't know how much you like or dislike zombie movies, but even if you're a huge fan of Will Smith, in your case, I don't think it'd be worth it to see this movie considering the emotional scene with his dog towards the end of the movie. She was a really cool German shepherd too~ T__T

I bet the Batman preview's cool, though.

(I've watched it on my computer about 20 times already...)
