This year I finally attended the Highland Games, thanks to Brian. It's something that I always contemplated but never did. His family are registered members of Clan Johnston/e, and his dad is the clan sponsor so he's in charge of setting up the tent at the Highland festival, among other things. Apparently this is something he plans to one day pass along to Brian, hehe. So Brian's dad and stepmom camped out at Stone Mtn campgrounds during the festival, and we joined them in camping Saturday night, which was a lot of fun in and of itself. We made s'mores and Brian's dad made dinner and it was all-in-all very nice. The highland games themselves were really cool; we ran into Will and Jennifer and Papa Mockridge on Saturday, stopped by Marissa's mom's pottery stand several times over the weekend, and saw Kenzal and Nikki and baby James on Sunday. I have to say, those two created a good looking baby, which means a lot coming from me. I bought Brian a glengarry to go with his kilt, which by the way, he looks so incredibly adorable in ;). We watched the athletics competitions and listened to Scottish folk music and watched the sheep dog trials, after which we got to pet a bunch of border collies and sheep, which made Pooh incredibly jealous when he smelled us upon our return home.
Next weekend is Stephanie and Stephen's wedding (finally!) so it will be quite the busy weekend indeed. Her bridal shower was yesterday, which was lovely, and I finally got to meet little Chelsea <3 Saturday is the rehearsal/rehearsal dinner, and I think we're getting our nails done in the morning. I never in my life thought I would ever get my nails done, but there you have it. I will be officially "girly" next weekend. Hair and makeup early Sunday morning, and then the wedding in the afternoon. I think I want to get my hair cut sometime this week so that the hairstylist won't hate me so much. All the bridesmaids and their dates are going back to Stephanie and Stephen's place after the wedding, but I'm not sure for how long or what the itinerary is from that point. Brian is going to be a part of the wedding too, and escort Stephanie's aunt down the aisle. It was so sweet of them to include him, I think =) They yell at me frequently for not meeting him sooner, since they wanted him to be more involved. Oh well. Hehe.
I don't think I gush about Brian nearly enough on here, but he's wonderful. Simply wonderful. He gets along with everyone and really makes an effort to get to know my friends and family. My grandma wants to adopt him, and even my uncle Kenny likes him! Not to mention his family is amazing and make me feel like I really belong with them. It's so unlike any other relationship I've had. I am so in love, you guys =)
Anyways. =)
After the wedding next weekend I'm back to my 7-day work week, which I'm not totally looking forward to, but it really honestly isn't that bad. I took Nov 9-11th off work so we could attempt a real vacation, but it isn't working out too well so far in terms of planning. We were working on a group thing with Stephanie, Stephen, Bryan, Trishna, Shari and Shari's bf, and it is so difficult to coordinate the schedules and budgets of 8 people. We're thinking of renting a cabin. We shall see how that works out. If the weather is nice we might just go straight camping instead, at Watson Mills. IF the weather is nice. I have Thanksgiving and the Fri after off work from Merial since it's a holiday (holidays off? CRAZY!) but I can't decide whether to keep the time off or pick up shifts at BHV. I'll probably work Thanksgiving at least, since I'll get paid time and a half. Also, that Friday is Brian's and my anniversary. I don't know what we'll be doing yet, but I know it will be great =)
We might do the ghost tour thing at Stone Mtn tomorrow with Steph and Stephen and Shari, which is another one of those things I have never done before but always thought about doing. Hopefully I'll get to see my lovely Jacquie Pants sometime this week as well. I miss my Jacquie Pants. I miss lots of people.
Ok, I'm done rambling now <3
