so i haven't really updated in a while. here are some happenings:
changed my school schedule around, so as to avoid doing any actual schoolwork my last semester. so, i'm taking:
intro to theater 9:30-10:45am
intro to criminal justice (non-majors) 11-12:!5
big long break
sex and society 2:30-3:45
biological anthropology 4-5:15
theories of personality 5:30-6:45
and all is well. i had a test in psych on tuesday that i think went pretty well, and a test in criminal justice today. also had a quiz in anth that was ridiculously easy, and a couple of quizzes in theatre and sex & society. putting forth minimal effort and passing with ease = the win =)
the best part is the nice long break, which i usually would hate, but now that erik works downtown i get to have lunch with him twice a week =) it's awesome.
as for the Dog House, we have been significantly scaling back our involvement. we rarely stay at adoptions the whole time anymore, and i don't answer email very much (i pretty much just delete spam and answer cat questions.) i also told Amelia that we can't house the crates anymore, so she's going to clear out some space for them in her storage feem.
we've also been trying to reduce the number of foster cats, but that isnt going so well. we've still got Freddie and Boingo and a 2 other adults, and Coltrane (a very shy little black kitten that we're doing a very poor job of socializing.) plus, we're getting 4 new kittens in tomorrow. they aren't really Dog House related though... friend of a friend of a friend called me and asked me to take them - she was feeding them at the playground in stone mountain and wants them to get a good home, so she had some guy go trap them and he got them vetted and we're getting them from him tomorrow evening. but, at least he did most of the work, right? hehe. on top of that, both travis and nancy have told me about kittens at the chick fil a on 29/killian hill. so, i figure we'll see how adoptions go on saturday with this first new batch of kittens and if things are looking good i might go scope out the CFA.
on a semi-related note, i've been plotting out a lot of ideas for the rescue group that erik and i will eventually start (it's probably a year or two away from fruition though.) i'll post some more details about it later, b/c i really do want everybody's input. i want it to be a really great group, efficient and well-run. anyway, here are some more name ideas that i've thought of (not that your past suggestions weren't amazing ;)) -
Stone Mountain Animal Rescue Team (SMART) -- maybe too localized?
Stray and Homeless Animal Rescue Effort (SHARE) -- redundant?
Animal House -- too gimicky?
Stray Place -- dumb?
i do want something that encompasses both dog and cat rescue, and preferably that would specify stray/homeless rescue since we don't plan to take in people's personal pets (i will go into depth about that/general philosophy of the group later.) i'm unsure about announcing a "jurisdiction" in the name, like Atlanta ____ or Stone Mountain ____ or GA ___ .... i don't want to be too broad or too localized, but i think it may be important... like i said, unsure about that. we want something catchy and memorable though. i'm overthinking this.
but yeah, input = greatly appreciated. and like i said a couple of entries ago, help = cookies! yum!
going to see tom petty tomorrow night with hb and jacquie! hurray! something to look forward to =)
bye for now
