I've got my phone numbers back, all of them from my old phone at least. I need to add the new ones I've aquired recently, as well as the need to aquire more. I've been out of the loop for so long, and it's this time of year that makes me feel like that fixer I once was. Everyone is learning to use the internet, everyone is learning what once were my secrets, though freely shared, it was like I had a magic key. I still hold a key, a list of contacts really called, willing to help a friend as I hope they know I'm willing to help them. Several people have done some crazy things for me for whatever reasons, sometimes not even caring what the reasons where.
For all of you, you're awesome! That counts for all of you in the penguin colony.
Work has been good, really good. I'm demanding people to be added to my project, and found out today that our deadline is 3 days after my most aggressive deadline with 2 people helping. Which, mind you, is 17 days before my 100% free and clear day that I gave with 1 person helping. I knew I wouldn't get that, but then again, I know how the system works. So, as long as I get 1 person, I think I'll be good. And it looks like I may get two, one for queries and oen for mainframe, both vets of the company, and thy both like me, so, yeah, it's good.
Today was our team Christmas thing. First a two hour lunch at Copelands, a good cajun place, in which I added blue mardi gra beads to my accessories (or would it be simply accessoriy, as I was only wearing my d20 necklace?). Then we went and did the Dirty Santa gift exchange thing (no gag gifts aloud), which was fun.
For those unfamiliar, the game works like this: Everyone brings an unmarked wrapped gift and places it on a table. Then everyone draws a number. Then, on your number, you can either pick an unopened gift, or steal a gift from someone else if you like what they have. A gift can only be stolen so many times (as in our case we limited it to two steals total). So, if you see something you like, you can take it from them. Oh, and in that round, they can't take it back either. But they can in later rounds if they get the chance, which happened once :)
I touched several gifts (3 seperate movies, and a couple of gift cards), and gringed when I picked up a gift (as opposed to stealing one) and it turned into a git card to Barnes & Noble. People rarely understand my store/brand loyalty when it hits, or even my reasons for it. One person, after harassing me about a gift that had a penguin sack (yes, I considered getting it, but a person before me got it, and it was a coffee cup, and I have enough Border's cups, I don't need another just for a penguin sack) and talking about how I would just steal the sack (to the point t was grinding) finally realized it was bothering me (maybe it was the whole "Ok, you can quit with that now, it's old."), realized how much it burned the flesh just holding the card, and told me he'd trade if no one took it (he had a WM gift card, that while it is a lame gift, is still better than a flesh eating card). Luckily, it got taken, and I stole/ended up with 40-year old virgin (both in widescreen and the unrated version, whatever that means). I've never seen the movie, so the movie whore in my is exceedingly happy.
Tomorrow after work I'm heading out to go gaming (ahh, the misadventures of Ro continue!), then to Okmulgee for store appreciation, then gaming an awesome SR session with the guys (and girl, though I'm really counting her in when I say the guys, it's inclusive, really).
And my house is becoming clean! I've put up a coffin in the corner of my living room that holds all of my plastic bags. When it's filled, I take out the bags for recycling. That'll help clean up a lot. Plus, I HAVE A COFFIN IN MY LIVING ROOM! It'll go beautifully with my fangs that are usually out and almost ready for use by the sink... hehe.
Anyways, my house requires more cleaning. And soon I'll have a companion (Hot Pocket, my cat) living here as well. I'm looking forward to both the companionship and the responsibility.
