If any of you thought that American Daytime Television was bad.....you should see Japanese daytime television. @_@ Awful. Hahah. There's like 5 channels and all there is on is news, those stupid panel shows, and weird dramas, usually with samurai. o.o;
So, because of my arrival, I have had two days to fart around before I have to start school on Wednesday. I think I might have planned that, not sure, but, yes, it's giving me time to adjust to the jet-lag.
Anyway, I worried about my host family, but it was stupid to do so. XD; My host family is awesome. I understand why my host father likes wrestling. O.o; He is the tallest and most muscle-y Japanese man I have EVER seen in my entire life. My host mother said that every year they have to go to either Guam or Hawaii to buy clothes for him, since he's so big. XD; He works at the Toyota manufacturing plant. I feel sort of like they probably don't have to worry about money...if you know what I mean. They have a mini-van with GPS (what they picked me up in) and my host mother drives a BMW. *cough*
Anyway, my host mother studied (way back when) At Hawaii University. She knows a little English, but not enough for me to actually converse with her for a while. That's really good, though. I'm happy about that. XD; She said that she wants to study English more, so I'll probably help her.
Kensuke, my host brother is really funny. He kept asking me what food I ate on the airplane, and when I told him that I watched Spiderman III, he was jealous. XD; Yesterday, he had to stay home sick from school since he had a fever. My host mother said that it's the first time he ever missed school. He was really hilarious the first night, and we'll play Wii and Playstation III together once he gets better. XD Yatta.
Reira is adorable. She's actually 3, not 2. She talks a LOT. O.o; The only thing is that I can barely understand her. ;-; She asks me questions, and I just smile and nod....it sucks. But she's so cute. I brought her an animal noises book, and I've probably read it to her 10 times. I played with her while my host mother brought Kensuke to the doctor's yesterday, and we watched the Sesame Street DVD that I brought and played with a toy airplane. XD; It was fun. I just wish that I could understand her. I think it might be the fact that she's a little kid, and also that she speaks in Nagoya-ben. XD; When she says 'oishii' it sounds like 'oichi' or sometimes 'ochi'. So, that could be a little kid thing, or a accent thing.
My room is really big. It's the only room on the ground floor. It has tatami, and there's actually an attatched room that is basically storage. I have a futon, but it's not as comfortable like my old one. ;~;
Yesterday, I went shopping, and exchanged some money with my host-mother. I'm only 5 minutes away from Nanzan by bus! :D I think I'll take the bus for a little while, once I understand the route, and then I may buy a bike. I'd prefer to buy a cheap bike and not have to pay for the bus everyday. Plus, it's good excersise. :D
I've been studying kanji. I'm only supposed to know 800 to get into the level that I want to take. x.x I guess for the placement test that reading will probably be most important, anyway. I'm looking forward to school tomorrow. I want to see Kelley and Erica. But as of right now, I like Nagoya. I may take a walk in a little bit, actually. I want to see if there's a conbini around. Kensuke said that there was a 7-11 around, and he wanted to show me, but he had that fever. I also want to see if there's maybe some kind of shop where I can buy a notebook. o.o; And maybe see if there's a shrine in the neighborhood. XD; Yeah, I just hope that gossiping obaa-san won't ask me questions. XD; Alrighty, I'm going to take some tylenol for my headache, and then I'm going to brush my hair and take a walk. It's really hot outside...o.o;;
