So, the third season of Doctor Who started here tonight. And I cannot contain my excitement! Both over it and over Torchwood. :D
I'm putting everything under cuts because I know Lady Unicorn would kill me if I spoiled anything for her. *looks at Lady Unicorn* You've been warned. Don't look *winks*
Doctor Who Christmas Special, The Runaway Bride:
I loved it! And I loved Donna. She was cool. I think she would've made a good companion if she had chosen to go with the Doctor. She was inquisitive about somethings, and she was funny and fun, and she slapped him! Twice! *huge grin*
The Doctor was still brilliant as always. But of course slightly altered as he would be after losing Rose. Especially when this picks up right from when he projected himself onto a beach in Norway to say goodbye. There were moments that just made me so sad, of course all them referencing Rose. Especially at the reception when the Doctor is watching everyone dancing and we get a flash of him remembering holding Rose in New Earth. And at the start when Donna is holding Rose's top, and then at the very end when Donna asked what his friend's name was and he replies, "Her name was Rose." And his voice was just so full of emotion and unshed tears. *tear*
Oh and near the end of the episode the Doctor is talking to the alien (Raknos? I think it was called) and then when he says the word "Gallifrey"... I got shivers. Wow. That one word was just so powerful.
*happy sigh* Like I said: I LOVED it!
Torchwood 1x01 Everything Changes and 1x02 Day One:
Fantastic show.
I mean what more can I say? Captain Jack Harkness = love.
I really like how we were introduced to it all through Gwen's eyes. As she discovers more so do we. There were moments that just made me laugh so much - when Gwen tells Jack that the only Captain Jack Harkness on record served in London in the air force in 1941, and then Jack replies, "Well that couldn't be me... could it?" *smirks*
And of course I've got my theory as to how Jack ended up in Cardiff. Well not how he got back to the 21st century, haven't figured that one out yet. But I think he was working for Torchwood London (which was how he came across the Doctor's hand of course) and he was doing well, so when they decided to open Torchwood 3 they gave the job to Jack. And I think Jack was the one to pick Cardiff as the place to situate T3 because he knew about the rift there thanks to travelling with the Doctor and Rose. And he probably figures that if he's going to find the Doctor anywhere it's going to be where a time rift that can nicely refuel the TARDIS is.
Anyway... So yeah, both episodes were great I loved them. In the second episode I particularly loved the line, "That hand is worthless to anyone but me!" Ah, Jack, my lovely man that can never die. What did Rose do to you, eh, when she brought you back to life. So much angst potential for what happened between the time he was left on Satellite 5 and when we come across him at Torchwood.
Oh and I'm so shipping Jack/Gwen already. Right from the outset in the first episode when she's watching them and he glances up and asks her opinion, making her run for being found. There's just something there, that will so obviously go into something. And that quick thank you kiss in ep 2? *smirks*
Yeah. Love it :)
