I just activated and used my new Nokia 6010. Woohoo! :-) It's been a while, well 2 yrs, since using my 6100, but Nokia is as nice of a phone as I remembered. It doesn't seem to have a slot for self identification of it's phone #. :-( But it has a good quality earbud included in the kit, free starter minutes, and some other good features that aren't coming to mind right now. The rust-colored xpress-on cover is on order. :-D The car charger I already had works, so that will sort of pay for the cover. Since 7-11 sells the user minutes, those shouldn't prove difficult to refill. I think I'm good to go. I just have to switch the phone number over at the end of the Sprint contract, this week (to be sure they know I'm no longer a customer), and that's that. Then I'll look at new nifty Nokia GSM phones as they come to my attention.
I just did the calculation and I was paying .12c/min on the Sprint contract, that's if I used all the 300 min. Which I rarely did each month. At $100 refill that's .10c/min on Nokia prepaid. So far so good. I called the right number, told the guy I wanted to activate, and he set me up in a no-nonsense way including exchanging about 80 digits. Any statisticians want to give the probability of error on that?
