Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is she heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
Lynne's 5'5, so she's just below average height. She's lithe with a modest build.
2. How old is she?
17, turning 18 in December.
3. Describe her posture. Does she carry herself well or does she slouch?
Lynne carries herself pretty well, though she gets slouchy when she's tired or feeling down. She always admired mommy for looking so grown up and mature so Lynne tried to emulate her when she was a kid. This didn't quite work as well until she got older.
4. How is her health? Is she fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
Minus allergies to pollen, her health's fine for the most part save any other person when diseases are floating around. Physically, while she's naturally fast and a good runner, she doesn't exercise enough to have as much stamina yet (fighting demons might encourage her to change that).
5. How does she move? Is she clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
She tends to move like she has purpose. She's not tense but she moves like she knows where she's going or what she has to do even when she doesn't.
6. How attractive is this character physically? How does she perceive herself in the mirror?
Lynne doesn't really care much about her physical appearance, or at least she tries not to. Except for her hair, Lynne considers herself average. Even if another person told her she was cute or attractive, she wouldn't completely buy into it.
7. Describe her complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
Light and clear. On the downside, she burns easily.
8. Describe her hair: color, texture, style.
Her hair's red, straight with the occasional wave, and flows down to her shoulders. Lynne usually pins up two strands into twin tails, using hair clips, ribbons, and charms from her collection. Lynne's hair is the one physical aspect about her she takes great pride and work into keeping pretty after an incident where she chopped her hair over Rick constantly creepering her about how beautiful her hair looks. For Lynne, being able to take pride in her hair again is a personal sign she's over Rick though she's not completely over him.
9. What color are her eyes?
Blue.
10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
Not really.
11. What are her chief tension centers?
Her shoulders and her neck. When she gets really stressed, she absently rubs those areas to try and get the kinks out.
12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does she have six of the same suit?
Lynne's clothes tend to lean towards being casual/feminine. Lynne's belief is that there's not point looking attractive if the clothes aren't practical or too much work to take care of or are downright uncomfortable. She likes bright clothes and favours the colours blue and red. Favourite item in her wardrobe is definitely her red, low heeled boots.
13. Do her clothes fit well? Does she seem comfortable in them?
They fit or are a bit loose. Lynne's pretty comfy in what she chooses.
14. Does she dress the same on the job as she does in her free time? If not, what are the differences?
Since her job is in her free time and just involves writing letters for people, she doesn't need to wear anything differently.
15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
Round medium range, not too high-pitched or too deep. I kinda imagine Leah Clark's voice (ex:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pK1B_jt4Cxg), though not on the snobby range.
2. How does she normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does she talk easily, or does she hesitate?
She speaks evenly for the most part but hesitates or stops, usually because she's still thinking through an idea.
3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
Not really
4. What language/s does she speak, and with how much fluency?
She's a native English speaker with some French due to classes. She wouldn't trust herself in a fluent conversation though.
5. Does she switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
See above
6. Is she a good impromptu speaker, or does she have to think about her words?
Lynne tends to speak on the spot but she tends to hesitate or stop in her speech because she's still thinking the idea as she says it.
7. Is she eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
She can be when she wants to be. She has a good vocabulary and she's straight forward for the most part but if she's trying to avoid mentioning something or is uncomfortable, eloquence falls out the window.
Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is she book-smart or street-smart?
Definitely more book-smart than street. She has above average intelligence but most of it comes from working at it than naturally.
2. Does she think on her feet, or does she need time to deliberate?
She usually needs time to think about something. She's a rational person and usually needs to think things out first.
3. Describe the character's thought process. Is she more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
More logical and practical. She does have intuitive and idealistic thoughts but they tend to get weighed down by the logical, rational side to a fault sometimes.
4. What kind of education has the character had?
She's been to both public and private schools. She went to public for elementary and private for junior high and is now in Adessi, which is definitely private.
5. What are her areas of expertise? What, if anything, is she interested in learning more about?
Lynne's a writer. She LOVES writing and has her own website that hosts her works. Lynne finds areas like psychology and criminology fascinating, mainly in figuring out why people are the why they are and why they do what they do.
6. Is she an introvert or an extrovert?
Introverted
7. Describe the character's temperament. Is she even-tempered or does she have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
Even--mannered and mildly driven. She's patient enough to tolerate something, even if she isn't particularly fond of the person or situation, but will snap when something crosses the moral/stupidity horizon. She has an attitude of it has to be done, just get it done already.
8. How does she respond to new people or situations? Is she suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
She's more reserved and timid but she tries to approach the situation as best she can. Unless someone gives her a reason to think otherwise, she'll try to treat someone new the same way she would anyone else.
9. Is she more likely to act, or to react?
React. She's a bit go-with-the-flow.
10. Which is her default: fight or flight?
Both? It depends on the circumstances. She's not too confrontational unless she feels she needs to and leans towards taking the indirect approach but if she really doesn't agree or the situation calls for it, she WILL switch the full fight mode.
11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does she appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
She's more into witty or sarcastic humour but she's not afraid to laugh or crack a smile at Gallows or physical humour. Pranks, she's not likely to pull by herself and it depends on the severity and whether she's the victim.
12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does she deal with them?
Nope, unless you count her aversion to touch? In that case it's "avoid making contact".
13. What moments in this character's life have defined her as a person?
Namely, her whole incident with Rick, which she is still recovering from in small way. It's messed with her a lot, such as in her views about relationships, her relationship with her mom, self-consciousness with herself and her self-worth, guilt over ethics and secrecy versus telling herself she had to do what she did, and of course her touch problem with men. Another big moment was when she found out an online writer she really respected had reviewed and loved one of her stories, which had her literally going red, uncharacteristically squealing, and jumping around.
14. What does she fear?
Snakes. It's a combined childhood trauma of going on a field trip to the zoo and having an immature snot in her class throw one of the small snakes they were handling at her as well as watching the python eating a rabbit as its lunch when they left that has turned her off them for life.
On a more personal level, she's afraid of letting people important to her down. She doesn't want people to be disappointed with her or to know she failed them.
15. What are her hopes or aspirations?
Long term, she wants to be able to be published and recognized for her stuff one day. Career wise, she's still thinking but she likes but writing and kinda thinks trying to study criminology would be cool. Short term, trying to figure out more about the demons and the mailboxes and NOT dying are nice. Also passing Math with decent enough grades.
16. What is something she doesn't want anyone to find out about her?
Goes back to Rick again. She never wants anyone else to know about that moment of her life because it reminds her of how passive, weak, alone and insecure she was and how it’s still affecting her. It's also because she's still ashamed of and a part of her can't help but blame and guilt over how she handled it.
Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with her parents.
She's in a bit of a distant relationship with her mom. It's not that they don't love each other; the distance formed because her mom had been busy trying to run her husband's company and Lynne's natural shyness and by now they're both used to that sort of relationship. Lynne admires her mother very much though. As for her dad, since he died before she was old enough to remember him, she's neutral about him. She knows from what people told her he was a good man and she knows that her mom loved him but to Lynne, he's some person she's never met or never will. Even physically, Lynne looks way more like Carol than she does her father. Because she doesn't feel a connection to him, she doesn't feel much about the idea he's dead either, except sympathy that he died over something so small and the effect his death had on Carol.
2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
No siblings. Lynne's perfectly content with being an only child.
3. Are there other blood relatives to whom she is close? Are there ones she can't stand?
She's got two cousins she's close to, though she can't stand their parents. Lynne was spoiled a lot by her father's parents when she was younger though there was a bit of a falling out between her mom and them regarding how Carol took their son's company. She still looks forward to hearing from them when she does, though she doesn't get to see them much anymore.
4. Are there other, unrelated people whom she considers part of her family? What are her relationships with them?
Not many people are that close for her to consider that yet.
5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
Kelsey, a girl she met in elementary school via Kelsey accidentally smacking Lynne in the face with a dodge ball and giving her a nosebleed. Kelsey insisted on making it up to Lynne, Lynne kept saying she didn't have to, and their relationship built from there. They lost track of each other when Lynne transferred to a private school for junior high but they've reconnected over EyeBook.
6. Does she have other close friends?
None yet, save a few internet friends. Give it time?
7. Does she make friends easily, or does she have trouble getting along with people?
She doesn't have the initiative for it, most of the time.
8. Which does she consider more important: family or friends?
Family. Friends might get closer in value as the RP continues but she's going to pick family every time atm.
9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has she been married more than once?
Single
10. Is she currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
Nope. She doesn't high hopes to be in one, even though she wants to have someone one day. After all, it doesn't matter if she falls for someone and they somehow fall for her if she still gets freaked with guys touching her. In her head, relationships involve physical contact at some point and she can't expect someone to put up with her problem, nor would she want them to, so she doesn’t see it working out.
11. Who was her first crush? Who is her latest?
First crush was a good guy friend she had in junior high. It never went anywhere but she didn't mind imagining it back then. She's had crushes since then but she tries to stomp it out with rationality because she doesn't feel like she has any chance.
12. What does she look for in a romantic partner?
Someone that she likes being around, can respect and be respected back, someone who's honest, compatibility, and above all, someone she can have fun with. Attractiveness is part of it but it's not as big as a deal as personality. For Lynne, someone she can finally tell about the Rick problem and be accepted despite that would be a major plus but for her it's always going to be the touch problem that'll make or break any possibility of something more.
Physically though, she seems to have a thing for brunettes, silverettes, and the occasional blond /sob.
13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does she relate to them? If no, does she want any?
No, definitely no kids yet. She's undecided whether she wants them yet.
14. Does she have any rivals or enemies?
Not as far as she knows : P.
15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does she fall on the
Kinsey scale?
About a 1. She's pretty sure she's only into guys but I can see the 'incidental' encounter happening.
16. How does she feel about sex? How important is it to her?
She's only seventeen so she's not really thinking too much about it. If she could get over her problems and is older though, she'd probably have a healthy appetite for it.
17. What are her turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
She's a secret romantic: anything on that vein would probably work. I imagine she's also the type of person who likes to take it slow and teasingly. I can't really see her experimenting much on her own but she'd be willing to give things a try if her partner suggested it.
Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (
zodiac of
choice) sign? How well does she fit type?
Didn't research astrological signs before making her sooo Lynne doesn't really fit Sagittarius. She's definitely not masculine, undyingly optimistic, or an extrovert, though she does love looking for knowledge and experience.
2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in her life?
Her grandparents are Catholics and though her mom is lapsed one, Lynne was baptised and taught about it. She doesn't believe all the teachings nor does she consider herself devout but she does believe that there has to be someone out there at least. The whole Persona business has actually increased her belief in that idea because if she can have a Greek goddess in her head and demons and monsters are running around, why can't angels or God?
3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
Course she has one. Lynne's got a lot of patience and on a practical and tolerant and rational level, knows the world is grey. Despite that, she has a firm moral compass on what she considers right and wrong but she might only act on it once it's hit the moral horizon.
4. How does she regard beliefs that differ from hers? Is she tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
She's tolerant and curious. She's more likely to be curious about other views than dismiss them.
5. What prejudices does she hold? Are they irrational or does she have a good reason for them?
Not many, she's pretty tolerant.
Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is she rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
Comfortably rich. The Sawyers aren't sticking rich but Lynne's got more than enough.
2. What is her social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected her?
3. Where does she live? House, apartment, trailer? Is her home her castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does she share it with others?
Aside from the dorms, she lives in a practical sized house for a few people. It’s mainly meant for comfort and to be lived in than be showy. The place is usually well kept between her mom's standards and Lynne's tidiness but Lynne's own room is organized chaos.
4. Besides the basic necessities, what does she spend her money on?
Notebooks, books, occasional movie/DVD, pens, and new hair accessories.
5. What does she do for a living? Is she good at it? Does she enjoy it, or would she rather be doing something else?
She's got a decent sized allowance and is a student so she doesn't have to work but enjoys what she does. She likes writing letters because she finds it fun, she gets some interesting letters sometimes, and because she gets practice as writing as other people. She's pretty good at what she does but when she gets the occasional letter that is hard to write back to - usually for the content - she has to sit back from it for a while and gets self-conscious about how to respond. She'll respond the best way she can but since she usually doesn't get feedback it's hard for her to tell if she hit the mark with her reply or not.
6. What are her interests or hobbies? How does she spend her free time?
Reading, writing, history, people, and anything that catches her curiousity. She also likes wandering aimlessly and thinking about nothing except what comes to her without conscious thought.
7. What are her eating habits? Does she skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
She skips breakfast but eats regularly aside from that. She loves chocolate but knows she can't have too much without her face becoming acne city. She's also a big tea fan and will always take that over coffee.
