People always say water is flavorless. But I do not think that that is true. Water has a flavor...and maybe that flavor is the distinct lack of flavor, but it's a flavor none the less.
I like water.
I like to swim in it. I like the feeling when I'm under the surface, and everything is deathly silent. I like how time slows underwater, and how every sound seems louder, magnified, so that the smallest tap becomes a deep, loud boom, like thunder. I like how cold it is, how icy water rushes past you when you dive in. There's that first crash, that first burst of bubbles, and then, everything is quiet again.
I watch the bubbles. I like to swim down to the bottom and sit. Then I blow bubbles, and follow them as they scamper to the surface like tiny frightened jellyfish. If you can catch them, when your fingers brush them, they shatter, and become a dozen tiny new bubbles. New jellyfish.
I like it when water falls from the sky, too. There's something beautiful about a rainstorm. It's calming. I love it - maybe just because I was deprived from it for so long as a child; maybe not. I don't know. Rain has a sort of serene, mysterious quality to it that sunlight seems to lack.
But not to say sunlight isn't wonderful. I miss it right now.
I think winter can end now. All the snow is turning to slush, and it's...not fun. I miss sunshine and thunderstorms.
