They walked for half a day, before Chance realized that he’d steered them toward Grandville. In his defense, it wasn’t like there were street signs or familiar landmarks like The Talon to steer by.
And it’s not like Ben did much to help out. Really, he lived here too.
He was trying to figure out how to get them turned around before they came to the ravine and Ben figured it all out. Because even if they were geographically challenged, Ben would still probably figure out that Grandville was on the opposite side of Smallville from Metropolis.
He would have to. One of the big family stories was how mom got her powers when Grammy Moira was driving them back through Smallville after visiting Great Grammy and Grampy Lane in Grandville.
“We’re lost, aren’t we?” Ben cut through Chance’s thoughts.
“Are not!” Chance squeaked out.
“So why do you look constipated?” Ben crossed his arms.
“I know exactly where we are.” Chance protested.
“Okay then, where?”
Chance sighed, and jerked his thumb back over his shoulder. “Metropolis is that way.”
“You sure this time?” Ben asked.
“Yeah.” Chance sighed.
