Since my last update, I have actually had some developments in my life. On Sunday, I went to the Death Cab for Cutie/Franz Ferdinand concert. It was fun and definitely improved as it went on. Also, this semester, we are playing Assassins with PSP. This is basically where you have a target that you are supposed to “kill” (with a sock as your modus operandi). Anyway, at the concert, I killed my 3 target. Sadly, I died after e board. So now, I suppose, I am merely a shadow of my former self.
Also, I saw this add in the USA today about a week ago about this film competition. It is called FYI (film you issue). You make a 60 second film about some issue that is important to you. I am thinking about entering even though there are going a ton of other entries. I just like the practice. I talked to my friend Rachel about it. She works in this youth mentoring program with kids from a local trailer park. They are going to build a “willow hut” next weekend. From what I have been told, you basically weave together willow branched into a structure, and then the kids can play under it. Anyway, I think this might be good because there is some kind of a story to it. If yuo are interested, this si what a willow hut should look like.
Other than that, I have been talking to Rebecca about her move out of her dorm. Basically, her roommate went so far as to leave threatening notes around the dorm. She is going to move into her apartment early. Yay, Jessica for taking Rebecca the refugee.
You know, the end of the year is a somewhat annoying time because I have so much work. For some reason, I have way more work now than I did at this time in the fall. I have 3 papers (each over 10 pages long) due in the next few weeks. For me film paper, I have been watching some Mae West movies. This has been really cool because of the copious double-entendres, sparkly diamonds, and a very young Cary Grant.
And, before I go, I just want to make a random side note. I have decided that Mordecai Ezekiel might just be the coolest name ever. He was an agricultural economist during the New Deal I came across in my history reading. So, I challenge you to take a moment and mull over the greatness of the name Mordecai Ezekiel. You might also want to think about how much little Mordecai would get beat up if he was a kid in the schoolyard today.
Vale!
