once upon a time, I used to write stories

Feb 25, 2014 20:32

My recent coming out of fic hibernation made me remember that I had never actually gotten around to posting my fic to A03. I know, I know, I'm only about four or five years late to this party. :) But in case anyone is interested, here be fic. Somewhat curated, so you won't find every snippet ever, or a lot of pellucid: the early years. But most of ( Read more... )

Instead there's just Laura Roslin, airlocking babies and stealing elections and using the faith she doesn't quite have and holding humanity together with the sheer force of her will. I'm never going to love another character like that, I suspect, and that's probably a good thing for my overall mental health. But goddamn, Laura Roslin.

Aww/ *hugs* We're still here, still here. Nothing will ever be like that show, its characters, and that fandom. But there is still good stuff out there and on TV!

And we're still here. Yay, Pellucid: Next Gen!

Oh, I've never been in doubt about continued good stuff on TV--I've enjoyed a lot of it! I've just been lacking that fannish drive about any of it, until, perhaps, just recently with The Americans. So it's not so much that I've felt like no one else was here; I was the one who wasn't!

Going forward: we'll see, I guess!

I have all the feels about this post, but I also have a head cold, so I make no promises about coherent feels. But all the feels!

Because: yes. Yes to really missing this, the writing, the community, the philosophical research (philosophy of the mind and philosophy of language and the way we become individuals, and I need to have another conversation with Daniel about Plato) the falling in love with a show and then falling in love with the words about that show. I am writing again this week, and it is such a specific feeling, that untangling of characters and scene and reason and it is kind of the greatest thing ever.

I need to reread your stuff, too. I have vivid memories of the beta process for Eschatos and even though I don't remember that story as well as I should, I remember how I felt about it. And as I look through my beta folder (that includes a lot of stuff by some people I don't even remember existing, not to mention stories I don't remember editing), I'd forgotten that The Signs that the Signmakers Made was before ( ... )

*many, many hugs*

I'm late replying, but yes, all the feels!!! Those were a lot of really good times, and regardless of where our mutual fannishness takes us going forward, it's good to remember those stories and that community around the stories. I have missed all of this!

And really, just this: Because fandom. And feels. And writing. And you. And maybe finding something fun and interesting to fall in love with. Because that is the very, very best.

Ain't that the truth, sistahfriend. Because even when the people are fictional, the love is real, and it is never quite the same each time you fall for someone new. <3

I'm really happy you're writing again.

Philosophical research? Well if you go down that road with The Americans I hope you'll share it.

The Americans is still so new. We'll have to see what kind of fandom we end up with. I hope it will be fun and exciting getting to discover that.

One more day until season two begins. Well, two for me. I won't get to see it until Thursday morning.

I've been doing a bit of slow exploring of the DW community and the fic on AO3 for The Americans, and thus far I'm really enjoying the way this fandom seems to be shaping up. Smart and interesting people talking about a smart and interesting show. Looking forward to continuing to dip my toe in those waters!
