once upon a time, I used to write stories

My recent coming out of fic hibernation made me remember that I had never actually gotten around to posting my fic to A03. I know, I know, I'm only about four or five years late to this party. :) But in case anyone is interested, here be fic. Somewhat curated, so you won't find every snippet ever, or a lot of pellucid: the early years. But most of ( Read more... )

I have all the feels about this post, but I also have a head cold, so I make no promises about coherent feels. But all the feels!

Because: yes. Yes to really missing this, the writing, the community, the philosophical research (philosophy of the mind and philosophy of language and the way we become individuals, and I need to have another conversation with Daniel about Plato) the falling in love with a show and then falling in love with the words about that show. I am writing again this week, and it is such a specific feeling, that untangling of characters and scene and reason and it is kind of the greatest thing ever.

I need to reread your stuff, too. I have vivid memories of the beta process for Eschatos and even though I don't remember that story as well as I should, I remember how I felt about it. And as I look through my beta folder (that includes a lot of stuff by some people I don't even remember existing, not to mention stories I don't remember editing), I'd forgotten that The Signs that the Signmakers Made was before that, somehow, because I suspect I will share your sense that it holds up better.

Oh, the process of writing, the process of editing, the way it works within a defined canon-- fandom. I have missed this. I have missed your writing, and mine, and all of ours. We should definitely, definitely be trying more of this. For the narrative value, among so many other reasons.

And I promise to watch more of The Americans. After Rizzoli & Isles, after I shake this cold, and after I figure out how to write a story about Nate and Sophie and family that isn't Zephyr: Leverage. ;) Because fandom. And feels. And writing. And you. And maybe finding something fun and interesting to fall in love with. Because that is the very, very best.

*many, many hugs*

I'm late replying, but yes, all the feels!!! Those were a lot of really good times, and regardless of where our mutual fannishness takes us going forward, it's good to remember those stories and that community around the stories. I have missed all of this!

And really, just this: Because fandom. And feels. And writing. And you. And maybe finding something fun and interesting to fall in love with. Because that is the very, very best.
